Unhappy RX-8 Horsepower rating..Interesting

Hey Everyone
I just ran across this article at AutoWeek online. It states that the power rating was stated incorrect on our 8's. It say that they are going to make amends with some 3000 RX-8 buyers by providing a $500 debit card AND free maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles. Sounds to good to be true huh. Here is the link I read it from and I am calling Mazda in the morning.

http://autoweek.com/cat_print.mv?content_code=00435633

Thought I might share the info. Hope we all get free maintenance!

Thumbs down

What kind of comment is that? Maybe you should find another place to place your droppings. As I stated it was from Autoweek and I placed a link for you to check out. I am giving you the benifit of the doubt that you can read......can't you? Try your rude comments on someone else.

That was simply the good Doctor's way of saying that this is old news. The story was broken here last Friday, and the official letter from Mazda was posted here on Monday.

A poor way to say it. To say the least, since last Friday there has been a LOT of discussion about the pros and cons of whether to keep one's car or to let Mazda buy it back. It's easier for some to sell it back (i.e. it's in the shop w/774 miles and they can't figure out what's wrong [not mine]) or for some to keep it (i.e. rotary suits me fine [very nearly me]. Most of us are waiting patiently as one forum member attempts to find the truth behind the HP rating drop and perhaps even what the real HP# is - much speculation has been posted that it's more in the 208-210 range instead of the revised 238 which has garnered us the $500 and free maint during the warranty period. If you go to the biggest thread about it, have a nice big cup of coffee and plenty of time for reading! Last I looked it was about 35 pages of posts!
