NoCal - Who has their 8 and who wants to meet?

We are being put to shame by the rotorheads down south, who have had a meet, a rally, and are planning all sorts of fun.

Speak up on this thread if you have your car. We've been driving around for a week and half looking for you and haven't seen a single 8 on the road but ours. We know you're out there, despite the late preorder deliveries and the markups at Menlo and Magnussen.

Having lots of fun driving the 8, it still gets lots of attention when I park it, and today some idiot in a Mercedes SUV tried to pass us on CA-85, with both of us at a speed exceeding the route number. Let's just say he was ultimately unsuccessful.

(Maybe he just wanted to look at our 8.)

Let's get a roll call of interested parties..

I'm interested but no car as of tonight... but I'm feeling real lucky.

Are RX-7 owners allowed to join the cruise up in the SF bay area?

How about this Saturday, late morning

Here's a proposal for a meetup.

There's a Starbucks at the corner of Fremont and Mary in Sunnvale (NW corner), usually there's lots of parking spaces available close to the actual corner. The Starbucks fronts onto Mary. Get your coffee and park your 8 (or 7 or any fine rotary vehicle) where there is room for several cars for photo opportunities. I'll bring my digital camera.

Bring your RX-8 paraphenelia (mug, thermos, book, magazines, hat, etc) for easy identification. Then we can rally over some scenic (and enjoyable) drives, Saratoga to 35, or Woodside to 84, whatever people feel up to.

Kids welcome.

If this time doesn't work, propose an alternate. We're busy late Sunday afternoon/early evening.

Can we narrow down "late morning"? Sometimes I'm up before 6:00 other days I"ve slept 'till noon... would hate to miss folks and my watch doesn't show "late morn" - probably 'cuse it's analog... :p

Late morning = 10 AM

Hope that's specific enough.

Hang out and talk rotary engines and what color is best and who gets the worst mileage etc. for about an hour.

At eleven, let's go for a drive.

Who's in?

Wish I would have spotted this a little sooner, let me know how it went, post pix, when are you meeting again?

I saw that the Bay Area RX-7 club is having a brunch next Sunday (8/10), anyone planning on attending that?
