Is Mazdaspeed cold air intake legal in California
Hi,
I bought my 2004 Mazda Rx8 in Charlotte and got the Mazdaspeed cold air intake installed on it. Now I moved to California, and need to get it registered here.
Is the Mazdaspeed air intake legal in California?
I went to a smog station where the guy popped the hood and said he was not sure since it didn't have an EOV number or something.
If it is not legal, then any clue on what parts do I need to get the stock intake back on it? Any suggestions on where I can find the parts?

Ok, I went to 3 different smog stations today and they all said that it needs to have a CARB emision sticker on it for California. So, all of them said that this would fail visual inspection during smog.
Since I had bought the air intake outside of CA, it does not have any such sticker required by CA.
I am looking to replace the Mazdaspeed air intake with K&N air intake which does have a CARB sticker, but am not sure if I need some additional parts ordered to get the whole setup working. I am not an expert, so as I see it, the Mazdaspeed air intake assembly is huge where as, the K&N air intake looks smaller.

The k&n intake is a huge POS. Chances are you would lose hp with it since you are swapping a cold air intake for a short ram hot air intake. You would be spending $400 to make your car less powerful. Intakes already pretty much do nothing for this car because the stock one works very well.
Either call up mazda and ask for a carb sticker or post in the forums saying you will trade your AEM for a stock instake and box + some money from them.
