looking to buy an rx8 in SF area, tips?

i drove a car at oakland mazda with possibly the most annoying salesman ever (although he did let me and my friend take the car for 1/2 hour alone).

there is a car i might consider at SF mazda.

any other places i can try? looks right now cars are going for only a little over invoice? any dealer experiences that might help me?

thanks!

james

I bought at SF Mazda... If I were you I would look into Burlingame Putnam Mazda, they have the largest selection of 8's on the peninsula. I can get you into contact with a dealer there, out of curiosity, who are you currently dealing with in SF?

That dealership in SF doesn't specialize in Mazda and I found that I had to train & inform my particular seller about the car and make sure the pre-order process went to plan. You can get the 8 with discount off from MSRP at Burlingame. I had opportunity to buy one there for $1000 off MSRP (this was back in late July) you should be able to do better than that at this time.

hey james--
outstanding car! the cobra was my first choice for blowing 40K on a car but the RX-8 won on practicality for seating for 3 and for a comfortable (and fun) daily commute! congrats on your SCCA wins! i'd really like to check out your cobra since i'm in the bay area too! any plans of going to the Sunnyvale RX8 Meet set up by MazdaBob on Tuesdays??? lemme know...

that sounds great, although today tuesday i have just come down with a cold. bah!

the cobra has been a great car for me, but MUCH more uncomfortable and impractical than it looks sitting there so sweetly. makes you appreciate modern conveniences like roll up windows and mufflers.
