Courtesy Mazda in Vegas, anyone?

Has anyone else here preorder from Courtesy in Vegas or have any other dealing with them regarding the RX-8?

I ordered mine about Jan 12 and supposedly was/am in the first allocation (5th of 7, I think), but haven't been able to get any useful information about it from the internet sales guy (or whatever), David Toro. I've gotten a bunch of unrealistic time estimates (beginning of April, mid-March, first week of June, etc.) but no VIN, no confirmation email, no gifties, nothing. I just want to know the status and have some assurance that my car exists in some form outside of my imagination.

If you didn't get your book by now, I'd worry. Get on the phone with your dealer immediately and find out your VIN# or contact Mazda's rx8orders e-mail.

Don't use the book as a reference. I didn't get my book but my car is on the boat. My salesman got his book, but his car isn't on the boat yet.

Sorry to say that most of the local RX club memebrs went to Utah to pre-order their 8's. They were so put off by the "typical mazda serice" on their 3rd gens that they swore off completely shopping at Courtesy.

With that said, I do have contacts within Courtesy, and have a list of vins:

JM1FE173140104276 - Black / Cloth

JM1FE173440101825 - Red / Black

JM1FE173540101302 - Yellow/ Black

JM1FE173540102711 - Red / Black

JM1FE173540104426 - Black /Red

JM1FE173640103866 - Silver / Black

JM1FE173840102184 - Titanium / Cloth

JM1FE17N340104166 - Silver / Red / AUTO

JM1FE17N540100975 - Black / Brown / AUTO

JM1FE17N940105015 - Yellow / Black / AUTO

JM1FE173040103569 - Yellow / Black

JM1FE173040104687 - Black / Brown

JM1FE173140102155 - Silver/ Black

JM1FE173140104665 - Silver / Cloth

JM1FE173240100785 - Tianium / Cloth

JM1FE173340105090 - Green / Cloth

JM1FE173540104698 - Silver / Cloth

JM1FE173540104927 - Titanium / cloth

JM1FE173540105141 - Titanium / cloth

These vins came to me without colors/interiors:

JM1FE173640102510
JM1FE17N240104837
JM1FE17N640104680
JM1FE173640104533

Anyhow... call Sarah Lee (at their Sahara location) -- tell her you're a pre-order, and you know Dan

Hmm, looks like my Green / Black is conspicously absent on the list, but thanks for the new contact. I'll try calling Sarah. Maybe she'll be more help than David.

In the meantime I'll start to panic or something.

Not a single Titanium with leather????? That sure seems odd. Way too much cloth going on in NV. I guess that's the price you pay for living in the desert. AND 3 out of the 4 automatics in the entire U.S.A.????

First of all, a big thanks to rotarynew.com for pointing me towards Sarah. She's clearly the one to talk to about the RX-8 orders over there.

The good news is that my RX-8 is indeed in the system. The bad news is that it is "on order" with a start production date sometime in May, which according the Sarah means it probably won't be delivered until August. Even though I "ordered" on Jan 12, it seems that Mazda is building them in batches by color, with silver and yellow at the head of the line and green, apparently, at the end.

The other issue is there was some confusion whether the car was being built with the sport package w/cloth or Grand Touring Package with leather. She seemed to think that it woudn't be a problem getting the order fixed if it was wrong (I "ordered" GT), as well as let me double-check/change any other factory options, but I'm not going to be terribly pleased waiting until August and then getting the wrong car (and probably waiting even longer or settling for something else.) I was supposed to get a call today about this, but I haven't heard anything. I guess I'll have to pester them again.

Sigh

Winning Blue, MT, Touring, App pkg, 6 CD, a lot of aluminum options

I ordered from Courtesy on 5/31 from the Costco rep. He told me that a Winning Blue could be built to my specs starting around June 10 and that I would receive it in August or early September. Based on the VINs posted on this thread for Courtesy (thanks) showing no Winning Blues coming in to Las Vegas in the first 22 cars, I am not surprised because he said their first allotment had none. He also said I was number 12 in my allotment FWIW, 2nd or 3rd? I don't know. He said that people were coming in from Utah because they were hard to get there. He also said Courtesy gets more cars due to their volume. I'll see soon enough or not.

So far they have treated me extremely well right down to ordering my accessories.

No not really. I despeartely wanted a Winning Blue with the Grand Touring package so that I could get the power lumbar support (I got rear-ended on the freeway while in a Cavalier last March ) and my back needs a little help but the black leather is the only choice for Winning Blue and that is just too hot here in the summer. I took some solace in settling for the black fabric of the Touring version because the salesman siad there is still a manual lumbar supprot. I hope he is right, but in any case, few people want black leather in Las Vegas-we need an Australian desert tan version here mates.

While there are seven black leather seat selections cars coming to Las Vegas they are all cooler colors except one "red"--no black paint and black leather. I pity the soul who ordered the red paint and black leather, hope he or she has a garage at work.

Well, I would have been that fool in the green (really dark, almost black apparently) with black leather in Vegas.... Of course I was also that fool with the top down on the Miata all year (except the 2 days a year when it rained). Anyone from Vegas should not be surprised to hear that the winter was worse for having the top down.

Fortunately the weather is no longer much of an issue since I moved out to the Bay Area.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident; and I feel your pain. My blue Mitsu 3000 GT was rear-ended on Christmas by an SUV, and I ended up with moderate whiplash. My car was drivable but later declared a 'total loss'. The offensive, er, offending, vehicle was dead on the scene.
heh.

I was one who skipped Courtsey and went Straight to Steven Wade Mazda in St. George UT.

I refuse to take anymore of my business to them since they have NO CLUE on how to work with rotary cars. 3000 bucks later they have managed to break everything they can on my boyfriend's 3rd gen.

Sorry for the delay in responding on this thread. I am sorry you got hit and hurt too. It's a real shame to lose such a nice car especially on Christmas day. Having an accident happen on Christmas day is a long term reminder of something bad on what is normally a very special day. I highly recommend lots of physical therapy as that is what helped me get out of the pain zone and off of all pain meds.

Note: I am having problems using the quote tags. I put them in manually Hope it works.

The owners of Courtesy and Peoples Mazda do not care. Since it's the same owner you get similar treatment both places. They used to own another stand alone Mazda store, Magic, on West Sahara but closed it. In my dealings with them I was told never to come back to their store in my 8. Long boring story but I have not been back since even for a part. I was laughed at when I brought up the federal warranty law and was told to go ahead and file - "you'll sell the car before we get into court". I love my 8 and will not be parting with it. Good luck - there is a Mazda dealer in Phoenix that is friendly to owners.
