Broken in yet??

So where's everyone at on their mileage?? Anyone broken her in yet? And if so, how does she feel at WOT?

After one week I'm up to 832 miles...and I haven't even drove it for the last 4 days!!! I've been in TN.

The car gets sweeter and sweeter above 5K rpm. I still haven't heard the chime/buzzer @ 9k yet. Any day now.

Now that I'm back in town with my baby, I specifically tried to get the beep. I took it all the way to the fuel cut off at 9.5k rpm and.....no beep!

WTF? Where's the Beep?

LOL! Try closing all your windows, turn the music off and try again. You will hear it, althought it's hard to hear from 1st gear. It's more of a soft buzzz sound than beep.

im at about 1050 miles or so, since 7/15 mileage has picked up from the initial like 14mpg to 16.1 to 17.6 on the last tank, i don't figure i'll consider it broken in til that levels off.

Picked mine up 7/30, this morning has 625 miles on the clock.

Seems a little "tight" above 6000 (first try was yesterday), wasn't real happy about it. It has loosened up quite a bit in the 0-5000 rpm band, but I think it will be a while before it is fully "ready" to rev to it's full potential.

Shifting at 5000rpm, the car seems like it's not really trying, but you find you are going extra-legal speeds in a hurry (around town)!

Can't wait until it loosens up a little more!

On a side note, I bedded in the brakes and the clutch very carefully over the first 200-300 miles, and I have to say this car has some SERIOUS brakes! Great feel and very powerful. Impressive.

glad to hear. I guess no one has started to "break her in" with odd timed WOT's and what not.

I really regret the fact that I cancelled my order but something tells me I'm going to get a killer deal next march. LOL.

Thanks for responding. Keep me posted.

I'd have to agree that the braking on the 8 is just awesome. I thought the brakes on the FD were great (ebc greenstuff pads and brembo rotors) but I think the 8 has just awesome stopping power.

I've got about 1200 miles on it so far and am taking it up to the nether regions of the tach on a somewhat regular basis - it revs really smoothly and in 1st and 2nd the rpm's just blow by. I really enjoy driving it, and the handling is really very solid.

The redline buzzer is pretty meak and unless you're listening for it you probably wont hear it. I have not taken it up to fuel-cut yet though... not really on my list of things to try on a regular basis.

Another meet would be good, since when you had your last meet, I think I was still in the "should I really do this" phase. So yeah - if anyone wants to come further south and check out some of the local twisties that would be cool too.

Simon.
