Talking Arnie Swartznegger & Rx8 Car Taxes

From what i have seen on TV , your new governor BIG ARNIE ,is going to reduce the tax on cars in CALIFORNIA , how is this going to effect the price of all cars how much of a saving are you guys going to get ???. What is your current tax ??

Here in australia we pay a 50% luxury car tax it really sucks , maybe big arnie should make his way DOWN UNDER .

I thought the RX-8 was priced just under the luxury tax cutoff?

car "tax" is actually referring to the license registration, which just went up 3 times w/ our recently-deemed incompetent ex-governor. i'm not sure about actual purchase tax, but i could be wrong...

The original Calif car license registration was a tad below 2.4%. It was then lowered to one third of that, which as of Oct 1 is raised back to 2.4%. We'll see what Arnie can do for us.

I'm starting to hear it's easier said than done. If the registration tax goes back to the discounted rate it will add a $4 Billion hole in the budget. I think arnold won't be able to help us.

who cares, Arnie is gonna take Indian Casino money; problem solved! At least to a large degree. Not to mention, the economic tide is begining to swing i everybodies favor anyways. Cali's troubles will be gone soon.

There's talk that if he is unable to rescind the legislation immediately he will spearhead the reduction on the ballot in March.

I don't see how he is going to get this rescended. I think he well have to get it past the legislators first. Or, maybe he will get it on the ballot to go around the legislators.

Problem is, Citys and Countys will be greatly hurt by this fee loss. When the VLF (vehicle license fee) was reduced, the state gave the Citys and Countys their full amount, as if it was never reduced. This was back when the State had money to burn! With budget issues, the state can't continue to subsitize, thus up went the VLF and out went Davis.

I hope the best for yous Californians. Weuns down here at my work were cheering for Arnie. We liked his anti politician/lawyer stance.

I hope he can really help you guys' budget out. BTW the car stuff you guys pay is ridiculous.

Kentucky is really bad too. We lived there for a while beautiful state BUT EACH year you pay for tags based on the value of your car!!!!! THeir formula is value of car * 6% = tag cost. ITs like being taxed for the car each year!

Too true. The economy is starting to climb back. I see help wanted signs up everywhere. Arnold got in at just the right time. The economy's going to turn around, which will help California climb out of its budget deficit without raising taxes, and Arnold's going to look like a genius.
