as you can see in the picture its adjustable by its nuts to add or relief tension!!!

That is a good question...I don't have an engine cover so I am not sure. But I believe it should be no problem to use the cover with this since its all the way on the left side of the engine bay.

I'd figure the majority of engine movement (between shifts) would be front to back. Not side to side.
