Coolant smell, and loss of power!
I blew a coil about 4 months ago and since then my car has been running weird. By weird, I mean it has a loss of power especially at higher speeds and going up hills, but ONLY when it is hot.
Just recently I have been getting a low coolant light with a coolant smell in the cabin, but my reservoir isn't losing any coolant and my temperature gauge doesn't get hot at all.
Today it was about 103 here in Denver and I was driving. Car was fine till I got on the highway and I was experiencing a lot of power loss and a very noticeable coolant smell. When I finally got off the highway the idle was really rough, almost like it was missing, but it didn't die on me. Just a bit of idle fluctuation. It almost seems like it is overheating, but my temp gauge reads normal and I'm not losing any.
I don't have any leaks on the ground under car, or under the hood either. Any ideas what's going on here????
I also notice coolant fumes inside of car and it really irritates my eyes. I almost don't even want to drive it anymore. I love my RX8 but I'm really freaking out right now.

Do a compression test and see if there's fuel in the coolant or the car burns more oil than it should.
If the compression turns out to be fine, check your catalytic converter.
Looks like you're looking to buy a new engine though.

Already put on a new cat. That was the first thing I did, but I will check for fuel in coolant and compression. Thanks.
