What if the ESS or MAF is going bad/goes bad?

I have been have misfires for quite some time (CEL on). I found out not too long ago that its my cylinder 2 rotor that's misfiring. I changed the plugs, coils, and wires but i still have multiple misfires and the CEL flashes at high rpm like when i redline it but not every time i do it. It does start better though. Hot or cold, it starts the same. I also cleaned the ESS and MAF sensors and im still stuck with misfires. Soo i was curious. Is it possible for a ESS or MAF thats bad or going bad to cause misfires in an individual rotor housing or does it only cause it in both? Maybe one of the new plugs or coils is faulty. Who knows?
I also have been noticing that when i take my foot off the gas and let the rpm drop fast, it will idle normal then drop slightly then rise back to normal. Yesterday i disconnected the battery to reset the system and hooked it back up this morning. NO CEL but i could still hear/feel misfires. the normal-drop-normal did quit though. I redlined it again to today and the CEL came back on along with the rpm normal-drop-normal. im not sure what it is but im praying it's not loss of compression. I intend to get it tested soon. It's still responsive so theres a high possibility that my compression is okay but i wont know till it gets tested. I have not been able to find any solid info on this issue. PLEASE HELP!!! If anyone can help in any way, please do so. It will be very much appreciated. THANX!!

Well if you "could care less" then that means you care even just a little bit to begin with.

The proper statement would be you "couldn't care less" because that would mean you don't care at all.

Now I'll be nice and help you out, Your misfires coupled with an inconsistent idle, I would recommend you check for Vacuum Leaks, that's probably the most likely and it's also the easiest thing to check for.

A vacuum leak will result in a lean condition which equals misfires.

No problem,
Get carb cleaner and spray it around the vacuum line connections and also the upper intake manifold flanges. You will hear a change in the idle or it may even stall out if there's a vacuum leak in that area. You can also use smoke to detect leaks.

Thanks

I did notice that my intake manifold is covered in oil and now that you mention the vac leak it
kinda makes more sense now. I checked under my car and there's no oil on the ground or on the
bottom of the engine so i assume that its coming from there. Ive never encountered a vac leak in the past so its a bit new to me. please excuse my noobiness. haha
