Some suggestions for RX8 forum...

I have been a participant in the Miata Net since 95 when I bought my Miata new. Just a couple of suggestions...

First, Moderators, take it easy! Some of you guys remind me of crossing guards.

Second, the pictures posted in replies are an annoying waste of space, such as Sputnik's and Quick_lude's, and have nothing to do with RX8s. Sorry, it just clutters the board with redundancy and makes viewing posts a pain.

Otherwise, great forum for talking about my next great Mazda!

Alright, lemme get out my "Moderating Stick"...

But seriously, which threads are you talking about where we're acting like "crossing guards" (not that we aren't, I'm just curious as to what you're talking about).

And I assume that the "pictures posted in replies" you are referring to are our signatures, correct? You do realize that's not something that we manually add everytime we post, right?

The picture (hyperlink) of the MR2 on the racetrack and the Prelude. These just waste space and necessitate more scrolling for the rest of us.

Telling people you are closing a thread because they should have looked through old threads. Well, with new people joining the forum all of the time, threads can be recycled. I'm certainly not going to make sure someone hasn't posted a subject every time I have a question, I don't have time. And, besides, if a thread has been done, no one will respond and the thread will wither and die.

I don't think Sputnik's sig, or any other in this forum is annoying at all. It's not as if its big unlike other forums, which I have seen ones which are 5x the size of these!:D

Hey, it's a Mazda! Nice Car! I honestly think that body style is beautiful and on par with anything ever produced, including Ferarri, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, etc. There are two here in Altoona that are the same cool green color as my Miata. I have to bow with respect when I see them in traffic, which is rare.

Thanks... of course I was kidding about the signature, that would be ridiculously annoying...

Green? You must mean Motego Blue?

Okay, that's our signature. You're entitled to that opinion.

On the contrary. Starting new threads on the same old subject causes alot of people to jump in and re-hash what they've already said about it. I can tell you from experience that they don't just die if it has already been talked about. I see no reason for everyone to spend their time re-hashing a subject, or re-answer your questions/concerns, when you don't take the time to do a basic search.

P.S. BTW, not to nitpick (it is a small picture, so it's an understandable misindentification), but that's a picture of Pete Cunningham's Realtime Racing NSX. I love that race car.

But what if some of us want to "rehash" an "old" subject, especially if some new information has become available or the subject is not old to some of the participants? Is not the purpose of the forum to discuss things? This is the crossing guard thing...or maybe the teacher with the ruler...too many rules...I'm not trying to be obstinate here.

Yeah, what he said...(rotorhead)

You've got a lot of new members who may want to discuss topics previously covered, not just read other's views.

Also, as more information becomes available, and, most assuredly, when this vehicle is released, you'll have a huge influx of members who are not necessarily enthusiasts, or purists, or really even fans of the RX-8. It will change the nature of this forum. (Probably not for the better, but it will change...)

Hope I don't get demoted to sub-junior member for insubordination!

Personally, if I come across a thread that bares some resemblance to a past post, I don't mind doing the search and copying in the old link.

(Sputnik has done it for me a few times ... thanks!)

And sometimes newer threads take a different direction that is still informative and entertaining - so I have no complaints

Hey everyone keep up the good work!

:D

Well put. I didn't mean to make such a big deal out of this and understand the need to terminate senselessness from time to time, Sputnik. I think we can let this one go. Maybe we can rehash this in a few weeks. JUST KIDDING.
