Unhappy Please fix the IE problem with pictures

Ever since the server change I've been having problems with viewing this site using Internet Explorer. While on the site the pictures will stop loading and the only way to get them back is to log off my computer and log back in. How do we fix this? I've seen others with this problem Thread but never the solution.

Just a minor point, but you don't need to log off and back on - just close all your IE windows and start again.

This has to be an IE problem. Nobody is experiencing it with any other browser, and I don't experience it with IE6 on my XP Pro or Win2k boxes, but I do with IE6 on my Win98 laptop.

It's been intermittent with mine, some days yes and some days no. XP Pro box with IE6.

Thumbs down

....Why is it a IE problem if this is the ONLY site I ever have visited that causes that corruption?

Obviously its a problem that only AFFECTS IE, but not caused by IE.

When the server was upgraded and completely started again......thats when the problems started. coincidence? I doubt it. Its unique to this particular site.

If you happen not to use IE, thats does not mean there is not a clitch present within the site that affects IE. It just doesnt affect you. Which is fine, but not a good enough reason for all the rest to change browsers for this one site.

IE is not perfect.....niether is Netscape or any other software product. I would venture to guess that a majotity of Forum users are running Internet Explorer and for that reason alone the obvious problem with the site should be investigated by those paid to do so.

Ryan even said point blank that there was apt to be some glitches initially and would get smoothed out over time.

Its safe to assume that a intermitant image file loading corruption....that affects a very large number of users......unique to this site only....coincidently enough, promptly after a server change.......falls into that catagory.

Its far too easy to say IE sucks....change your browser.

OK, I think we're agreed on two things:
  • There's a problem with this site which affects some users.
  • Said problem only affects Internet Explorer, but not every IE user, nor all of the time.
I agree it's annoying - I have experienced it myself on my laptop - but all I'm saying is that unless and until the first problem is fixed by the admins, you yourself have the ability to avoid the second.

That is true, but I think I'll just wait it out.

-It actually has been less frequent lately....

-and-

-The "password reset" glitch that plagued me for some time since the upgrade has been fixed today. This restored my faith in the admins for site maintenance. So maybe the Image problem is next on the list....

Same problem for me, Windows 2000 Pro and IE6. I experience this problem with no other website except RX8Club and it started when the new server was installed. Also, once experiencing the problem at the RX8 site, I then have the problem at all other web sites until I close all my browser windows and restart.

I am not going to install another browser just for this one web site. In general, I'm not a big fan of Microsoft but IE is one of their better products. If there is a problem with the web server that won't let me see pix, then I'm not gonna see pix. I'm not bitching about the new server cuz it's so much faster and more accessible than the old one; I really do love it. But there is some config setting not right that is messing up viewing of pix. Sometimes.

I hope it's next on the list. It is IE after all, a very popular web browser. You'd think it would be supported.

I just compared my IE options between the machine that gives me no problems and the one that does. I found a few minor differences, but in particular I discovered that I had Microsoft's JIT ("just in time") compiler enabled on the machine that experiences problems.

Since I've never thought very highly of MS's virtual machine, I usually disable everything to do with it on all my boxes - I guess that one slipped through.

Anyway, I've now disabled it, but I don't use that laptop enough to be able to tell whether it's made a difference just yet. However, other folks who are still experiencing the image loading problem might like to check their settings (Tools - Internet Options - Advanced) and perhaps try disabling the JIT ( or all three options under "Microsoft VM" for that matter) and see if it makes a difference. You'll need to close IE completely for it to take effect.

Both of my machines have the problem with both IE6 on my 98SE computer and my Win2K computer.

It is really weird. I have tried closing down all windows but usually that doesn't work. I usually wind-up rebooting (but I never tried logging in and out.)

Please fix the problem. It is very annoying.

It might have something to do with current connection. According to HTTP 1.1 standard, the browser must comply to a maximun of two connection per server. Any way, I have the value set to 6 connections! Which I often experience graphics halt, etc. So I decide to switch to 1 connection, well, so far I have not see any graphics problem; but of course, I loose the ability to load graphics fast so each page refresh I see graphics display one by one instead of displaying at the same time (parallel process vs single process)

The setting I played around with is the registry value:
MaxConnectionsPerServer & MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRE NTVERSION\INTERNET SETTINGS

ps: But I do think there is a problem with IE compatibility with this new servers; not unless someone do some major research on those servers setting and IE, I fear the problem will not go away.

I've been using the laptop extensively this weekend, and I can report that I have NOT had a recurrence of the picture loading problem since I disabled the JIT compiler per this earlier post. I strongly suggest that anyone experiencing the problem at least try this simple fix and report whether it works for you.
