I wish

New to forum but not new to the RX8

I wish we had a panel of seasoned techs who had their own spot in this club where they can post what they assume to be hard fact. I wish nobody could post in these threads except for them. Maybe they can bring a broad range of what appears to be fact and less of opinion. It would be nice for them to let us members know how to tell coils are going bad, symptoms of clutch assemblies ready to go, updates on what is the superior method of dealing with a flooded car. Maybe they could rate different categories of mods for NA and FI. Possibly a top 10 list of brands for each category. It might even be nice to see a vote within the techs like 7 out of 10 preffered this brand. I dont know maybe this is lame but I cant sleep, I am sick and damn tired but my brain wont shut off for the night I dont know if its just me but alot of people tend to try to make their opinions look like fact which can make repairing a problem take more longer than needed and alot of us dont really want to go talk to the dealerships since they seem to misinform and cost us too much money untill coming to the real cause. Of course they also are salesman trying to make a living and might not try to rip us off but it happens.

While I agree with some things you point out, limiting the response to a select few might be pushing it.
After you've been here awhile and read through many threads, you learn who to trust and who to question.
Like you brought up coils... if someone says, "I have a problem where my car hesitates at X RPM" and right away someone replies, "Its your coils, change them out." I would stray from listening to that person.
Too many people nowadays don't take the time to properly troubleshoot or lack the ability themselves.
And its funny how coils seem to cure the common cold around here (quote TeamRX8 told me once ).
Hell... many people still believe you can tell if a coil is bad simply by looking at it!

If anything... maybe a "ranking" system where the more helpful/knowledgeable you are, the higher rank you receive.
Something like a 5 or 10 star ranking under your avatar?
Only problem with that is who gets to vote? The person you helped?
I can see it getting abused where people vote for each other to make themselves higher ranked....
