Clean up the threads
Just clean up the threads all of them in general. Seems there are a lot of dead threads or threads that do not really have any meaning and just end after a few posts. When I do searches even if I use advanced like a million freaking threads pop up and at least 1/4 do not help at all or end in nothingness. Just an idea I know im new but I have been on all weekend sneaking around doing some reading. Anyway just thought I would throw this out there.

that would require a tremendous amount of effort which frankly we do not have enough Moderators for and they're simply not paid enough to perform a pain staking task such as that. (they're all non-paid volunteers btw)
I get frustrated at times with the search feature but I find that if you look at the number of posts / replies and the last post date, it helps to figure out which threads are going to be duds and which will probably contain more pertinent information.

Yes I understand that but man if its not done now or never done then it will just continue to get worse....MUCH worse. If only there was a way to just have a filter that maybe deletes any threads with less than a certain number of posts and so many months old.

Or you can specify a minimum number of replies in advanced search. You can also change the organization of info, but relevance, date, number of replies, title, date of original post, etc.
Any forum, no matter how many admins and mods will grow and have dead threads, mis-information, and the like. What if you have an admin that knows nothing about the car, is new to it, or just plain doesn't give a **** and starts deleting threads regardless of content? The potential for lost info is huge.
As a forum member, it's up to you to do your own research, and decide what info and advise to be correct. Yes, there is a lot of misinformation here and I wish we could prune it away, but it simply can't happen. If you're having an issue, and find a thread that's similar, pm the original poster and see what the resolution was if you don't see a clear answer. If you're still confused, start a new thread. Just be sure to link the threads you've already read and ask politely for clarification. This will get you a much better response, and it will cut down on the flaming. Hell, it might even create a recent thread with the right answers so the next noob can search and find it instantly.

Its not just in searches. I mean heck in general discussions there are over 25000 threads come one lol. Also noticed that the web site is just in general slow and sluggish. I have several instances a day where the site wont even load a thread or freezes. But I can tell nothing will most likely be done about this so yeah just was giving an idea to make this forum run smoother and not take so long to find certain threads.

Series 1 2004-2008 and Series 2 2009-2012 done...they both NEED US MY DATES
Series 2 Tech threads have as many Series 1 related info that does not even relate to S2.
I made the suggestion early on a number of times to change Sub-Forum headings with ALL model Year DATES, but it falls on deaf ears....the longer they leave it the worse the S2 threads become.

Yep but the thing is if THEY can not do it then appoint another moderator who CAN......that simple or have 2 moderators who basically do only that. Because if it is ignored then it will only get worse. The site lags bad enough as it is at times.

But once again its so much easier to ignore an issue and make stupid comments that do not fix a single thing. Than to actually do something about it. By the way yes I have all the time in the world to sift through thousands of threads trying to find an answer. You don't wont people posting threads asking about things that have already been discussed yet you do not want to make it easier for those threads to be found....can you define irony?

You're also missing an important point. Threads generate traffic, traffic generates income for internet brands.
This is a commercial forum that is run by a company, not your local enthusiasts' meeting place.
Why would they reduce their traffic, and consequently their income anyway?
IB was slow kicking a known scammer out of this place because he was a "Paying vendor" a couple of years ago.
What you can do is develop a critical attitude towards what you read and decide what's worth learning and what is a waste of time.
Archiving older discussions would also be a solution but you would lose good stuff as well.

Its cool and it is not something that has to be fixed right away. Hell there is no way it could be fixed asap but its something that should be looked at. I mean no matter what i search almost half of the results have less than 20 replies and like from 2006 or be for. Just something for you guys to maybe look into fixing. Im not looking for a quick fix.

i agree that it is a pain in the ***, however judging a thread by the number of replies might be misleading.
Keep in mind that our cars are getting old so even the date on a post could possibly be misleading.
