whats not helpful? category isnt helpful? price isnt helpful? new or used isnt helpful? wtb and for sale prefixes are not helpful?

there have been tons of requests for better ways to sort the classifieds. by requiring this info for a post it creates ways to sort and search better.

is it fairly generic? yes IB has been working on this to add to all of the car forums that use vbulletin. We'll try to work with on getting some rx8club specific changes. they might even be available to me already. havent looked yet. its new. give it some time. the search/sort boxes arent even up yet.

if you have a specific idea about something you'd like changed post it and we'll talk about it. I was just hoping to get prefixes working so people had sorting options. Im glad to see they are going beyond that to making the classifieds more searchable.

Separating out all those pre-1970 RX-8 parts is extremely useful, extremely .....

It just a Pita that accomplishes nothing

if I have an engine FS how does having classified under whole engine make it more searchable? The categories are either too broad or pointless.

Requiring a price is pointless because there are situations that require the zero option, which still leads to people not posting a price and more people telling them they have to post a price

I can right my own header type faster than going through the process

bottom line is I provide that info *when appropriate* pany way because it makes common sense to do so. Now we have this stupid generic BS to go through and it's cluttering up every new classified post.

the only people who think any process can be made idiotproof are one in the same

K.I.S.S.

The {WTB} {WTS} brackets are useful. The price and year aren't helpful. One category distinction that might be of some use is Stock/Aftermarket, as in "{WTS} [Stock] catback" or "{WTB} [aftermarket] wheels"

we have always required a price. this makes it searchable/sortable you'll be able to for instance chosoe "wheels" and "under $500". isnt that useful? yeah the year bits are too generic still. remember this is meant to fit in all of their car forums. tweeks will be needed of course.

I agree that this format is retarded. IT should be at least rx8 series specific (04-08, 09+). There should be a spot for price (required) but you should have the option to put "trade, negotiable, obo" etc. instead of pure numbers as the system currently requires. And I dont think classifying the parts is necessary or useful. The only required classification should be for FOR SALE, FOR TRADE, or WANT TO BUY.

I think posting a price is a must. The person selling knows what they will let it go for so the whole secret price is just crap. As for the new format I can take it or leave it. Not that helpful but not that big of an issue when creating a FS thread.

I think pictures should be a requirement as well.

Agreed. IF you're not smart enough to know how to post pictures, you're not smart enough to be able to effectively collect payment and ship the part to me.

Not to mention that nobody here is going to buy anything sight unseen so it's a waste of space to post a thread with no pics of what you are selling.

I agree with every complaint made, but it would be nice if we gave Zoom a bit more slack. The changes will be worthwhile once they've been tweaked a little.

Touche, I agree with everything that's been said. Maybe it's the "way" it was said. Jesus, sounds like something my ex would say.

its no affront to me- im not the one working on it. its some coder at IB.

I just understand what they are trying to do and that is to address changes people have been requesting for a long time now. its not done. it s more "beta" than finished. it will change, it will grow. the sort box for the left side isnt even implemented yet. changes will be needed to be more rx-8 specific of course.

but thanks tayler, appreciate the cooler head

The reason the part fits categories don't match up with this site, is there is a bug, and due to a bunch of issues with our Network operations centre, we haven't had access to fix. I think this might have been fixed yesterday, in which case we'll make the part fits section align with the cars here.

If you have other constructive criticism that you would like to share, by all means, offer it, and we'll consider it, and possibly even implement it if it's something we've not thought of.

As zoom has said, this is something that we are putting out on several sites, but we are learning more with each rollout, especially as to how best customize it to make it feel like 'home' on sites.

cheers,
robb

There seems to be some issue with the regional classifieds. I was going to post in the SE regional classified area but when I did, the forum would not let me submit the post. It kept giving me an error that said "you must choose a prefix". I selected a state icon and tried again but it gave me the same error. There is nowhere I can see to select said prefix, so it seems that a thread cannot be posted until this is fixed.

It was just a set of wheels I saw on craigslist locally and thought would be a good deal for someone....not something I was selling personally. Not a super big deal, but someone should look into it.

I just tried to make a sizeable FS thread.....(my neighbor came in and asked me to wait 1 week to potentially buy everything I have)

I gotta jump on the WTF is this crap bandwagon.

Category: multiple parts- so does one choose an inappropriate category or make a dozen threads?
Price: multiple parts- same as above putting a price for a thread with multiple parts is retarded
Location: needs APO added since there are some of us, and international is misleading(due to shipping) as is a state (due to pickup)
Item Condition: USED is the only option? like no one ever sold anything NIB here before....

HI there,

Multiple parts per thread is no longer supported, in fact we insist that you list your parts separately and each with the correct category.
Same for price.
Thank you for the suggestion re: APO, is that all that needs to be added, just that, or?
Is there not Brand New & Used as choices for Item Condition? There should be.

cheers,
robb
