New Maryland RX8 Meet

Edit: 8/2/2006 10:28am The Meet is on for Sunday, Aug. 13th @ Arundel Mills in the REAR of the parking lot by the food court. Look for Row 2B / 2C. If your familiar with arundel mills, you probably know the signs that tell where you parked. The planned meet time is 5PM. Hope to see as many 8's as possible there. Remember the 13th is NOT this weekend but the NEXT weekend. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maryland Meet Ideas I’m new to the group and I have been reading over the Mazda meet and it sounded awesome but lacked organization, so I figured I would toss out some ideas for a meet. First off I recommend (just a suggestion so people can plan for it) Saturday 8/12 as the date and a few locations I recommend are: Location 1: Arundel Mills Wal-Mart parking lot (same as the first) at about 6pm. Here there is plenty of space for everyone to meet up at and I don’t think the rent-a-cops at Arundel mills would really bother anyone. Also there are ample restaurants around there. IE: Fridays, Chili’s, Remomo (Italian), Duclaw, jillians, Golden Corral (9 dollar all you can eat buffet), or we could convoy to Annapolis because RT 100 & and 97 are right there by the mall. Down in Annapolis there is Fuddruckers (someone suggested that before) Famous Daves (BBQ) and Red Lobster all right there by the mall, not including the stuff in the mall or in downtown Annapolis. 3rd option… Leave A-Mills and convoy to the bars or restaurants in Downtown Baltimore. Location 2: BWI Rail Station (MARC & Amtrak Station) Garage 1 – 7th Floor You might think I am nuts on this one but hear me out. I park here every day because I take the marc train to DC to get to work. This garage NEVER fills up not to mention there are 2 of them both with 7 floors. Each floor can hold in the neighborhood of a few hundred cars very easily. Also the 7th floor is the exposed top deck (meaning no roof) which is always empty and no one ever goes up there. Just so you know the garage can hold 1600 people (just to give you an idea of the size) The garage people will not bother you because THEY DON’T CARE as long as you pay the garage fee which is like 1 dollar depending on how long you are there. On the weekends the entire place is empty except for the first level because no one commutes on the weekends. That one dollar garage fee is all you really have to worry about to have the meet here. Not to mention this place is right off 170 by the airport. For those of you familiar with 170 it’s on Amtrak Way which is at the light right across from the Northrop Grumman Building. If you don’t know where this is, here is the addy… Map quest it and if you get a chance to, take a drive through there. Garage one is the FIRST one on your left. BWI Rail Station MD Rt. 170 & Amtrak Way 2 Amtrak Way 21240 (410) 672-6169 BWI Parking Garage 410-850-4616 One other thing, this garage is about 5 miles from Arundel Mills and has plenty of gas stations around if you need fuel. We could have the meet here, then after that convoy out to Baltimore, Arundel Mills or Annapolis for food. 195 / 97 / 100 & 695 are all within a few miles of this location. Let me know what you think because it’s all just suggestions right now. I’m just trying to offer a little organization but I'm open to all ideas.

I want to get as many 8s there as I can but I guess we shall see what happens. Before anything is official I want to see what everyone thinks of my proposal. Oh and the buffet over there at arundel mills kicks @ss! Ive eaten there quite a few times!

Sweet, we need more people for sure though. Also which location would you guys want to do? Oh yeah before I forget, right off of RT100 right over the Anne Arundel / Howard county line is another Marc Train Station with a HUGE parking lot too. This one is all flat and holds about 800 cars and is empty on weekends. It Can be found at Exit 7 off MD Rt. 100 between US 1 and Baltimore-Washington Pkwy (295) just an FYI. By the way that’s 2-3 miles down the road from Arundel mills towards Ellicott City on 100. I will let you guys pick and whatever you decide im down...I just kick out the locations. Hmm .. what happend to good ol fudds on sunday .... It seemed that everyone used to go ... Then just stopped .... maybe we should all meet up again on a sunday soon ....

That was one of my suggestions (sorta) in my original post. What fuds did you guys meet up at? The only one I know is the one in Annapolis

Just so everyone is on the same page, I went out and got some maps and aerial pics of the locations. First is the BWI Garage Location. The first picture shows the rooftop of Garage 1 and 2. They are connected to one another from levels 3 on up. Like I said before the entire top portion of the garage is exposed and is fairly large. This way if we decide to meet there, there will be plenty of room for plenty of cars. The second picture shows the general area of the garage in relation to the main roads and the airport. Also take note that this place is back off by its self, so I would not expect many people bothering anyone back there. As you can see it’s only 5 miles and is almost a straight shot to the mall. The third pic gives a rough overview of the directions but for the detailed ones, follow that link.

The second set of pics is the other location I mentioned. The Marc Station (Dorsey) parking lot off of 100 is pretty convenient to anything. This lot is very huge and is completely empty on weekends (see the first pic) not to mention its near 95, 295, 100, 108 and 29. This is even closer to Arundel mills and is more open. To get here its just exit 7 off of RT 100. The other picture shows how far this place is from Arundel mills. Mileage it’s only about 3 miles (see pic). The Fudds Shane is talking about is the one in Columbia MD off of 175. Not far from Arundel Mills. That one works great for me.

let's do it at the parking lot in Arundel Mills in front of Burlington Coat Factory and Off Broadway Shoes. Arundel Mills is pretty much dead smack in the middle of most of us. Ellicott City, Baltimore, Glen Burnie, Rockville...all take about 20-30 mins. the parking lot is HUGE...plus, a lot of other people will notice us food court in the mall, restaurant outside (TGFridays, Damon's, Potbelly, Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Quiznos, Wendy's, Panera, etc.) plenty to eat. Muvico movies, Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, Costco, Dave and Buster's...it's all there.
