8 at the Chateau Lake Louise?

While staying at the Chateau Lake Louise, I saw a grey 8 (no spoiler) pull up. The valet parked it, but I didn't get a chance to see the owner.

Later, I saw the valet attempting to squeeze the car into a tight parking spot between a minivan and a big truck. I cringed when I heard the way he was handling the clutch.

Anyone here spend a weekend at the Chateau?

I wish! (sigh)

I LOVE that place. Let me tell you a story...

Back before 1985, the Chateau Lake Louise was like the hotel in The Shining - CP closed it up for the winters, as they didn't have much tourist demand for winter usage at that time (idiots!). Anyway, in 1985 they decided to stay open for the winter for the first time. As they had a lot of empty rooms during those first 2 winters, they used to let the volunteer CSPS Ski Patrol at Lake Louise ski area get rooms for $30/night. I had just joined the Patrol there in 1984, so for a couple of winters I stayed there a whole bunch of weekends! (We used to get to eat in the staff kitchen for $2/meal). I also did a ski week at Louise, staying at the Chateau - 5 nights, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, 5 days skiing, for a total of $190 for 2 of us! (I 'retired' from the Louise ski patrol in 2001)

Regards,
Gordon

Wow! What a small world! I'm currently a CSPS member, and have been for five years! Except I patrol over at Nakiska.

Gord, what are the requirements to be a Ski Patrol ? Nothing like helping people while enjoying the slopes at the same time.
