[Houston] Mazda Hot Streak Tour - April 15th & 16th **UPDATED**

In honor of the arrival of the 2006 MX-5 Miata, Mazda has loaded the new MX-5 on top of a fire truck and is burning up the highway across the country, with a stop in HOUSTON, TX. In each city we are teaming up with a local fire department to raise funds for fire safety education efforts, providing a great community connection at each stop and an added hook to generate media coverage for the new MX-5.

While the MX-5 is in the HOUSTON metropolitan area it will be making stops to not only give you a chance to see the car up close and personal, but also create a heat wave of excitement as it tours high-traffic consumer areas. This is a great opportunity for local clubs to see and sit in the new MX-5 Miata and simultaneously generate awareness and funds for our local fire department partner, the Houston Texas Fire Station, #33. We hope you will come out to see the new MX-5 at various destination points across the metropolitan area, caravanning along the way for some added fun.
Below is the schedule for the Houston “stop,” including a description of what will take place at each stop. We look forward to seeing you!

DAY ONE

Load-In Location – Friday, April 15th @ 6:00 AM:
Tinsletown Theatre Parking Lot
11450 I 10 East Freeway; (713)330-3946
- We invite you to come and watch the unveiling of the MX-5 as it is removed from its trailer and fork lifted up on to the fire truck.
- From this point we hope you will join the caravan as it travels into the city to some Houston favorites such as the Galleria area and Rice Village) and then out to our fire station partner.

Fire Station Location – Friday, April 15th @ 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM:
Houston Fire Station, #33
7117 Fannin @ South Braeswood.; (713) 495-7921
- MAIN EVENT: A must-see! Here is where you can see the MX-5 up close and personal. The car will be lowered from the fire truck and removed from its clear case and set on the street for you and other Miata fans to sit in and touch the hot new MX-5.

- The media will be invited to attend this event, and our partners at the Houston Fire Department will talk about the importance of fire safety education efforts and thank Mazda for raising awareness and funds for this effort.
- After the VIP viewing of the MX-5, the truck will be making its way throughout the greater Houston area visiting Local TV Stations, offering weatherman and automotive buffs at the media to come out to see firsthand the new MX-5. Given the limited parking and street availability at these stations, we will only be bringing the truck to these media opportunities.

DAY TWO

Load-In Location – Saturday, April 16th @ 8:00 AM:
Katy Mills Mall
5000 Katy Mills Circle (In Front of Bass Pro Shop Out Door World); (281) 644-2200
- If you were unable to attend Friday’s unveiling, we invite you to come and see the new MX-5 in person as it is riding high on top of a working fire truck. Please note that the car will not be lowered to street level at this time, but it is an easy climb up to take a closer look on the truck. .
- From this point we hope you will join the caravan as it travels into the city hitting high-traffic consumer destinations such as Westheimer shopping centers and Memorial Park.

Load-Out Location – Saturday, April 16th @ 2:00 PM:
Tinsletown Theatre Parking Lot
11450 I 10 East Freeway; (713)330-3946
- Get out your cameras – this is the end of the Mazda Hot Streak Tour stop in the Houston metropolitan area. Come and watch as the car is unloaded off the fire truck and placed back in its trailer as it makes its way to see our friends in Dallas!

I have learned a big group from the Miata club is going to head to Katy Mills on Sat. 16th.

It will be early (8 am) when we get there but it should be fun. So come on out and enjoy the show and see the new addition to the Mazda family.

I'll probably take a peek at it at the Firestation at about 11:30a on Friday.

Nice car, I was very impressed... but the setup at the fire station was less than spectacular.

Here is a link to some (unedited) pictures.

Enjoy.

(Yes, I know the date on the pictures is wrong)
