Lamborghini Concept S

I think it looks really neat, don't know how practical it is, but it's interesting. I was thinking the other day about how we need more speedster type cars rather than cabriolets.

Quote:
At the Geneva Motor Show, the House of the Raging Bull will present a new design study that renews a great Lamborghini tradition.

Like the 350 GTS and the Miura Roadster before it, the Lamborghini “Concept S” is a unique car, an extreme and spectacular expression of the Lamborghini brand.

Created at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese by Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Lamborghini Design, the “Concept S” is his extreme interpretation of an „open car“. Using the Gallardo as a basis, Donckerwolke drew inspiration from the classic single-seater racing cars of the past to create this latest design study.

The classic single-seaters did not have a traditional windscreen, but utilised the so-called „saute-vent“ (in French: a sudden change in the wind) in order to direct air over the head of the driver - and so does the “Concept S”. These devices divide the cabin into two distinct compartments, giving the car an aggressive and futuristic look and also creating a space between them that acts as an additional air inlet for the powerful engine, which is positioned behind the seats.

An electronically controlled, retractable central rear view mirror allows the driver - when required - to see what is happening behind the car.

The aerodynamics of the “Concept S” have been optimised thanks to front and rear spoilers and a large rear diffuser.

Holy Crap! I want to ride in one!!(never will happen) Its very different, at first i was going to say nasty. But i decided to look outside the box, different from the norm, and when i actually think about it, i like the idea and its good to change. Take nintendo for example, some people get turned off, but for the creative, its very refreshing. Nice job on the concept Lambo.

Does style of have price? Oh wait...oh yeah, I got a RX8...lol

I think it would be weird... "Hey come for a ride with me in my new Lambo! Well.. I mean, you'll be riding in a separate compartment... but it will be fun!"

Idk... I like driving WITH my friends...

You can still talk to them, and the that division that splits the two compartments is a pass through below. It would be like putting a two by four in between the front seats of the 8 at shoulder heght. Certainly it would take some getting used too, but a screaming v10 would ease that.

I did a quick sketch/trace of what I think would more likely make it too production. I really like the idea of a low windshield with your head hanging out over the top like the speedsters of old.

I'll pass... there's certain things you can't do in a car when your passenger can't reach you from the passenger seat...

Hey, if it's rear mounted, what're the front inlets for? Brake cooling? Radiator? Oil Cooler?

They're raidator ducts. No doubt there are ducts for brake cooling in there as well, I haven't had a close look though.

haha, no kidding, that would be a wet ride!
It reminds me of the Jag xk180 concept a few years ago. I would assume the windscreen would be about the same height.

Maybe the inlets are for a jet engine..., just slap wings on that baby and you're cruising at 10,000 ft no probs
