Cool TRUST Full Titanium Composite Cat-Back

OK, I know there are numerous exhaust threads, but I just bought this little piece of art for my car, and since it's a fairly new product (it was releashed only a couple of months ago) I thought I could share it with you guys.

It is quite loud and extremely light. I didn't have the chance to weight the two parts. Another friend of mine got it too and told me it is 4.8-5kg or about 10.5-11lbs. Judging from the fact that it was so easy to carry and pretty small in size, I guess he is right. Performance gain is noticable, but I can never be sure if I don't see real numbers. I hope I can visit the dyno again soon (I already did a few runs a while back, so I'll know what the difference will be). Now, if you wonder how it looks...

Oh, and I forgot to say, I tried to pick up the stock exhaust afterwards and it felt unbelievably heavy :D

Thanks guys!
I paid about 1350-1400Euros for it. Not sure because it came with other things. It is a great price, if you consider that car parts over here are very expensive. Local dealers sell it for 1700-1800Euros... The cans are very small indeed.
It is the Greddy exhaust, only made from titanium...
I have seen the stock exhaust's weight many times in this forum, its about 17.5kg or 38.6lbs:o

lol yushinrt, we posted the same time!
The price I told you, is final one to my door. It included shipping from Japan, a lot of taxes and some bank fees... Koji from japanparts.com found it for me and he gave me a great price!

I totally recommend that store. However, I have a big complain about this guy. I wasn't sure about a few things so I asked some questions. He totally misunderstood me and thought I was judging him badly End result, he insisted not to order from them again. I was like, "wow wtf happened here"... anyway, they do their job perfectly, if you want something go for it and buy from them, but they desperately need to improve their english:o
Now he won't even answer to my e-mail... wish someone could speak to him for me and end this misunderstanding!

I have seen JIC Full Titanium over here supposed to only weigh 9 lbs. but the cheapest I have seen is $1300-$1350. You are correct the RX8 from the catback is approximately 38 lbs. I know Amuse has a full titanium unit but it supposedly weight around 18 lbs. I have heard of titanium exhausts on other car craking at the joints, and this is not the type of material that you can take to your local muffler shop. That Trust unit looks pretty trick.

In general, cyclic stresses on Ti alloys causes them to harden and become more susceptible to fracture, notably at points where flaws are introduced (eg welds at joints/flanges). The same is true for most metals, but Ti shows a particular susceptibility. The Russians used to use alot of titanium in their submarine hulls, and they could go really deep......once (became depth limited due to cracking after that).

Fanman: you are right, titanium exhaust is not an easy thing to fix... but I couldn't resist. Like I said, its a great product. Hope I won't get any problems in the future:o

Hou-TX-RX-8: currencies are tricky nowadays, dollar might not be doing very well but car parts are still expensive here...

cortc: nice to see you back in action Since you are in the weight saving bussiness, have you ever thought about getting one?

p.s. now that I moved the car around a bit, I have to say the sound is amazing....

WOW, saving 28 pounds alone is great but then it adds a few HP and looks good too, WOW!

Only one issue...(not to put a damper on things, if you can afford it...more power to you)...I will not pay $1,000-$1,700 for an exhaust system. I just don't have that kind of money nor would I spend it...just too much $$$ to save 28 pounds and gain 2-5hp. It's a poor bang for the buck product, but again....saving 28 pounds is a great thing.

Thanks for shareing...

yeah, well, lightweight materials are expensive... that's why many people go straight for the turbo kit... I hope within the next month I'll be able to dyno the car, I'll post the results here. I really wonder what the gain is, because there is gain in performance. The car now accelerates much better....
