exhaust question

Hi all, I was wondering what the diff between the stock exhaust and the mazdaspeed exhaust is? Does the mazdaspeed have bigger piping? Louder sound? Better performance? Diff design? Also would an aftermarket exhaust, such as the RB, void the warranty? Appreciate all the help!

This has all been covered, I think, but I'll go ahead and try to answer. The Mazdaspeed exhaust has bigger tips from what I've heard and makes a "sportier" sound. Most intake/exhaust mods don't do much, and some even reduce power.

Aftermarket exhausts void the warranty on the part you replace. If Mazda can prove that the aftermarket part caused some other part to fail, then they won't fix it under warranty. For example, if you install and intake that had a metal filing generator that dropped metal filings into the combustion chamber and it caused the engine to violently explode, everything destroyed in the explosion would not be fixed under warranty because the intake caused the explosion. That's not likely to happen (as a metal filing generator would be worthless on an intake due to the potential damage), but just an off-the-wall example.

Take parts of this post as sarcasm from boredom.

Haha. I was going to respond to this first, but Futurama is on. :D

Some exhausts may lose in peak power, but they may make up for it low-speed and/or average power gain. It's up to you where you want to make power. Exhaust tuning is very weird for the novice enthusiast, but it follows simple fluid principles.

Tips are the same size as OEM. It's only slightly louder than stock.

See my signature for my Mazdaspeed modifications.

Hey 310Guy, is the Mazdaspeed exhaust worth the $$ in terms of the exhuast note and performance. My dealership told me that it was in the neighborhood of $900 just for more or less a muffler and tips.
