It's an 1800 lbs kit car powered by a Honda engine. Kit is made in Europe and assembled in Virgina. Cost $36,000 built. $17,000 as a do it yourself project.

What are the F22C or K20A engine? I know the Attacks are/were using the Honda Accord's engine, but I've heard talk about using the Ford Ecotec?

S2000 and RSX motor. I would use the K20A. More available and would be easy to drop in.

I think a rotary would be slick in this car, but not sure how you would convert it to mid engine? What tranny would you use?

Well, the older S2000 (99-03) engines are called the F20C, and the 04-future engines that are 2200 CC displacement are using the F22C callcode The K20A is the RSX engine, and can be tweaked a little more than the F22C but doesn't rev nearly as high

I did sent an e-mail to the company in Virgina that assembles the Attack and adds the engine. Here's their response:


Hello Mr. Gibbs,
Thank you for contacting us. You are not the first person to have ordered an Elise and has thought about switching to an Attack. I have a customer in Florida who just made the switch. The Attack starts as a kit, but is not a kit car in the traditional meaning. It is an affordable exotic that comes to us in a box with the frame already welded and all body panels molded and
ready for paint. We import the main components from Slovakia and assemble them here in the US. We are one of a handful of builders around the world offering this machine.

Unlike the Elise or other production sports cars, our cars are completely custom. Our options are not limited to a typical spec sheet list. Building a completely original car couldn't be easier and more affordable.

1. Once you place your deposit ($5000) a typical delivery time is 3.5 - 4 months.

2. The engines used are the stock F22 2.2L SOHC (140 hp stock) and the optional H22A 2.2L DOHC VTEC (200 hp stock). Either engine can be turbocharged (may require internal engine upgrades) and engine management systems are available. We offer systems up to 400 hp. Other options are being considered from Ford's engine to a BMW option and the Honda V6 engine.

3. 1/4 mile times are 14 sec, 60-0 in 100 ft, 0-60 roughly 5.5 sec with a stock 140 hp engine and stock brakes.

4. Honda service centers may service the engines/transmissions. The rear
suspension and brakes are Honda, front is Audi.

5. In Arizona probably a 2004 Attack. We provide a Certificate of Origin, Sales Receipt, Photos, and an appraisal for registration and insurance. Insurance is usually half of what a comparable production car would cost.

6. We have not officially sold Attack in your area yet, but have a
potential customer in Arizona. There is an Attack under construction in Oregon, about 1/3 complete.

7. Yes, turnkey is ready to drive. We can arrange for shipping to your front door. We work with Stewart Transport in Phoenix.

8. The interior would be black fiberglass and with an accent paint. Other options are leather, carpet...

9. Financing is available through several banks. Check with one in your area to discuss possibilities. Larger banks and Credit Unions are more likely to lend. JJ BEST & BANC will finance and have online applications.

10. The Attack has excellent side impact protection and is constructed of DOM tubing. It is a space frame somewhat similar to NASCAR frames. The seat belts are race belts and require more effort to get into, but are much safer than production car seat belts. The car is also very wide with a low center of gravity, ideal for handling and safety.

Not a big fan of the car, I'm sure it's fun to drive but if it's not an Ultima or a well done Shelby replica I don't like kit cars in general. It just looks too much like a toy and the doors are obnoxious. The Elise looks like a toy as well, but it's proven and I'd love to own one.

Looks nice but I would remove the Attack decal on the back that looks like a sticker. I think I might just go with the Elise if I was you.

As for the Attack, I think you may be right. I'm concerned who's going to do non-Honda engine repairs. I have a few other concerns but it's an interesting car.

I'm considering an Attack but I want to see other people's experiences with it first. I just may go for it but if I don't have the time to assemble it, then I'll settle for an early model NSX.

I don't remember the name of the car, but I do know it is sold though Factory Five Racing and is on their web page. Unlike the 4 cyl. Attack!, this car uses a Vette motor.

I think its called the GTM200 or something like that. Nice setup but I heard it will cost over 40 grand completed.

I like the looks of the attack, but at the same cost- why would one choose it over an Elise (which I'd personally love to get- but never will- the 8 will just have to satisfy me)

I feel the same way. I'd stick with the Elise because of the warranty and at least I 'd have someone to fix it if anything went wrong. Not to mention, I have more information about the car than the Attack.

If the Attack had engine problems, a Honda dealer could probably fix it. If the Attack and door problems, who would I go to?

I think that the Elise will be more common than the attack, but I don't like the attack decal on the back and the Elise isn't gonna be really that common, people will mainly stick to cars offered to main brands. An average person is more likely to buy from Nissan or Honda or Mazda instead of some company they've never heard of called Lotus. Just cause the Elise is more common is not a reason not to buy it, it would probably be easier to get fixed if it was more common.

id take an attack over an elise just because you get the satisfaction of putting together your own car and knowing every nut and bolt.

I understand that, because you want it done right, by yourself. There is no precision detailer that will work as hard on your car as you would yourself and I imagine it would be the same way building it. However most people have the time to wash their cars themselves but I for one don't have the time to put together a car.

I've read all the sites that have info on this... and I can't figure out what gets included in the 17,000 price where you build it yourself. Anyone know if that includes a tranny or interior or what?

Also, I saw a list of all the options... like the gullwing doors are $2,000 extra, does anyone know how much a fully loaded turnkey Attack would cost from the dealer/ distributor?
