Yes, those plugs should have been installed as part of the PDI. If it was me, I'd take the car back and have them repeat the entire PDI - who knows what else they missed?

I'm fearful enough of having the dealer even touch the car much less the upcoming recalls, as I've had bad experiences with dealer service departments... you know where they just slam bang everything and end up screwing something else up.
Hskr8, your post relative to the 'plugs' reminds me I meant to ask the same question several weeks ago . . but didn't get around to it.
What purpose do the plugs serve? And, if plug installation was part of the PDI service, what other 'services' should have been addressed during the PDI? Other than tire pressures and fluid levels.
(Maybe I should do my own PDI follow-up inspection. 8500 on the odometer; think it's too late for a PDI follow-up?)

What can they miss? Tire pressures? A radio fuse? Clean the car? Fill the tank? If you have driven for a while and nothing out of the ordinary has happened, I wouldn't worry about it....everybody is so quick to panic and rush to the dealer for everything....

My guess is that they keep moisture out of the frame? Simple to install, no need to raise the car or anything.
LIKE MANY OTHERS HAVE NOTED THEY COULD HAVE also MISSED PUTTING IN THE METAL HOOK THAT HOLDS THE FLOOR MATS IN PLACE. damn caps lock! on mine they also missed taking off all the glue around the edges of the shipping film. later i took it back and had them wash it all over again making sure that they got all of the glue marks off.
Somebody posted about this a while back. The dealer neglected to put in my oval plugs and I didn't catch it until a couple months ago when my frame rails probably already started to fill with road grunge and salt.
So, I'm gonna have to wait for warm weather so I can thoroughly flush out the crap, then take the car in to the dealer and yell at 'em. Nice PDI procedure.

I was told that these holes are used to secure the car while in transit.

Several months ago someone posted a link to the full PDI checklist. IIRC, there were over a couple of dozen items to be checked, including things like fluid levels, tire pressures, registering the TPMS sensors, and several procedures that involved the ECU and the specialized Mazda computer diagnostic box that the dealers all have.
In other words, a whole lot of things, not all of which would necessarily manifest themselves to you under normal driving conditions. Which is why I'd have them repeat the whole lot (and hand over a checklist with every item checked off) if it were mine. But each to his own.
