I'm wondering if anyone has driven with both of these shocks and which you preferred.

I have Tein H-techs and Tokico D-specs. However, one of my rear shocks blew out, so now I'm in the position of getting new rear shocks. The options I'm thinking about are:

- just getting two more tokicos for the rear

- getting two Bilstein HDs for the rear and leaving the d-specs on the front

- get Bilstein HDs for all four corners (I'm leaning towards the other two options because of cost)?

The ability to adjust on the Tokico's is nice, but I'm more of the opinion that unless you are a shock engineer with a shock dyno, you probably aren't going to gain speed with adjustability. But I guess you could adjust personal feel and preference.

Seems like the price on the two is pretty close.

The car is a daily driver and track day car. Next year it may be used for high-speed autocross events (standing start one lap timed runs on road courses).

Don't mix the shocks. You won't be happy with the results. The Bilstein's are high pressure shocks and the Tokico's are low. What ever else you do is up to you. I almost went with the Bilstein's.

 

Why didnt you? What did you choose instead?

 

I guess I wanted the adjustably of the Tokico Dspec's.

 

I ended up going with the d-specs again and got the rear adjuster cables installed. I like them. I was able to cure some transitional oversteer/twitchiness on the track by softening up the rear shocks a little bit from where I had them set. Much easier to do with the *****
