is this an event where there will be spectators or is it like a track day where mostly everyone going will participate ?

Its a competition - you can signup just to practice during warm-up and whatnot.

I can't even recall seeing any rx8s that take drifting seriously asside from Tony's which is not your typical rx8

Spectators are definitely welcomed!
Just dont block the path, the parking is tight. We will have alot of people.

there is a place for spectators to sit and watch. Its on the top of the track. The judges will be up there as well.

So if I wanted to do this, which would mean driving all the way down from SF how long do I get to practice?

I have never tried drifting other than making very sharp "u-turns" in my old S14 and the 8.

Is it even a good idea to learn in the 8 and does anyone want to teach a newbie?
