THIS IS IN NO WAY A GROUP BUY REQUEST OR MARKETING FOR BUSINESS. ONLY FOR TALK AND SUGGESTIONS/ Q+A
Well seeing as how our member Shiftstyle has decided to take on the task of spicing up our interior, i think there should be a thread to talk
about these specific items and answer questions for current owners and future buyers!
I, myself, have the shift boot, and armrest covers for front and rear armrests' and know many other with them. They were all easily installable and the perfect touch to give your interior a little spice!
Anyone looking to make some changes whether it be subtle or aggressive, they have many options for your different taste! These are some of the items they offer :
That would be after the e-brake project but im sure if it can be done, they can do it! i would love to have a white/black two tone like factory for my car...
once i trade my car in for an mt the first mod im getting is a shiftstyle shift boot.

Anybody know what happened to the other ShiftStyle thread? The one that had grown to something like 17 pages or so? It seemed to disappear overnight....
It had a lot of good info and pics of installed product, and I just finished my install of the console covers and had taken a bunch of pics that I wanted to post in that thread.
Did it get moved, or..???

OK, then... here goes.
I recently bought a set of ShiftStyle's console covers - black leather with black stitching to match the stock steering wheel and the ShiftStyle shift boot I've already installed. I initially had a problem getting the front cover installed, as the cover was cut and stitched a little out of square. With some sage advice from ShiftStyle along with a LOT of elbow grease, I got the cover to install and look pretty good, IMHO.
I elected to anchor the cover with staples. Others have used contact cement with good success, but since my cover would require a fair bit of trial and repositioning, using staples allowed me to "back-up" and/or "start over" if you will...
First recommendation I would make is to ensure you get the leather "seam" flap that's on the underside of the cover (red arrows in pic) around and over the underside edge of the stock console lid. If you don't get this right, you'll end up with a lumpy, uneven look to the cover.
Below are the tools I used in the install (frosty-cold beer optional, but may be helpful when the anxiety level rises... ). Staple gun is an electric model (very easy to use), T-50 style staples in 1/4" lengths.
Key to this install is to pre-fit the cover and get it s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out - this will take some time and patience. Anchor the cover first on the back end of the console, then pull/stretch/staple up each side a little at a time working toward the front, making sure you've got the wrinkles pulled out and the cover smooth before stapling (or gluing if you choose that method).
I had to cut back the little triangular "tongue" at the button cutout some more, because as-delivered it wasn't enough to allow the button to fit in. Also, there is some irregularity in the way they cut the leather around the button cutout, as I had to spend some extra time in pulling/stretching the leather to make sure it covered the corners of the "notch" where the button fits into the stock lid (see pic). I know there was at least one other member here who had this problem as well. Without doing this the stock lid would show once the button was installed.
After reinstalling the bottom panel of the console lid assembly, all exposed staples were blacked-out with a sharpie, and then it's ready to pop back into the car....
I'll have to admit, while driving now it sure feels alot nicer to your arm when resting it on the "new" leather-wrapped console cover than it did with the cold, stock rubber lid...
Now all I need is the upcoming e-brake cover to complete the look.

yup that was me. i pulled on that thing till my fingers felt like they were gonna come off, i couldn't get it to fit right. i should have used a staple gun
i might just have to take mine back off and follow your DIY. how did u do the back one? i couldn't figure out how to take the oem cover off the back. i didn't see any screws or anything. so i just slid mine right over the whole oem lid.

That looks really good - I need to get the black leather with tan stitch.
FYI, the tan stitch they use in no way matches the two-tone tan/black interior in the 8. I have it on my shift boot. It's not even close. Their stitch is LIGHT tan almost yellow. I honestly think brown stitch would look MUCH closer.

I'm working on finishing up the back one today. Doing it the same way as the front.
It's easy to remove the back one... you have to grip the rubber lid around its very edges (open the console to see what I'm talking about - but do this with the lid closed), and pull straight up sharply - there are eight "prongs" holding the cover to the base - just pull up with a little tug and they'll pop out of the base. It's kinda like removing the top of the center console when you're doing a shift boot changeout.
