Test driving

I really am interested in an RX8 and I was wondering if anyone in the long beach area would let me test drive their RX8. I know its a long shot!

uhhh i test drove the S2K over the weekend....the only thing that impressed me was how stiff the car was, but throttle response pissed me off, vtec kicked in nice, but my 8 still looks way better and sounds better and drives better and seats recline better and seat warmers are better so is navi + the glove compartment is hard to get too, + the small as windshield pissed me off too oh and that electronic rpm gauge isnt really responive too....all in all my 8 was better than my friends s2k...

He wants to test drive the RX-8, not the S2k.

I like them both however.

Erick: I'm not sure how many people here would just hand over the keys to their car to a total stranger...
I think your best best is going to the dealership and seeing if they'll let you take it on an extended drive.

You need to appear to be a serious buyer

Well I'm a kid so I doubt they'll take me as a serious buyer. And I dont mean the person wont be with me. I just wanna drive the car like I drive mine. I love takin corners fast and redlining, **** like that. The dealer will freak out with **** like that. I take it its no offer here?

What do you drive now? I really don't see many of us handing over the keys to our modified 8's to someone who wants to "take corners fast and readline, **** like that"

Same here... besides the previously owning an 8. When I test drove mine the guy at the dealership was mad at the time that I came because there was to much traffic on the freeway for me to take it on there and "really open it up and get a feel for it" his words.... not mine.

So he just told me to floor it down a straight away residential O.o

I drive a Prelude Type SH very good at handling so I know what I'm doing for the most part. And I pay foreverything myself.

Hey, let's be honest here, most of the guys on these forums love their 8 to death.

The odds of us handing over our keys to a dude who wants to drive our car hard? Well they're pretty much on par with somebody handing their girlfriend over to you for a roll in the sheets.

that being said:

While it is admirable that you pay for everything yourself, that doesn't mean you're a good driver. Just because you drive a Prelude doesn't mean you know how an 8 is going to respond. The Prelude I'm sure handles well, I'm not dissing your car, but it's still FWD if I remember correctly. The 8 is RWD.

Your best bet, which has been echoed throughout this thread is to go to a dealer. My dealer let me redline and drive hard, hell he encouraged it. I'm a very young looking guy as well, just make sure you appear serious about buying and usually they'll shut up and let you drive.

I don't think so. 4 wheel steering maybe but I'm pretty sure it was FWD.

It's a front wheel drive, and only non-us versions for the Prelude SH came with 4ws as an option.
