So Second time out with my RX8 on a road course. First was at Shannonville and now Tremblant. All I can say is WOW. The car is soo good stock it's not funny. (Well not bone stock I have Motul 600 RBF brake fluid, xp8's and Racing Brake disc's.)
Thanks for the info. Spin9k's traqmate data is very nice. I have a preformance box but didn't use it. They don't allow these things, I was lucky to get video. Time for bilstiens, swaybars and R compound.
wow, were you the first car out. Clear track like that is fun. it looks like you were flying too. That track looks like a lot of fun.

Thanks spin9k, It was a great track to learn and the instructors were first class. The elevation changes and blind corners are wonderful and quite a challenge to get right. It is nice to see another RX8 flying around Tremblant. Corner 7 better late and safe. That's the one that has the biggest bite when you get it wrong.
MazdaJeff it's not that involved all you need to do is
1. Sign up with BMW Club of Quebec $40.00 and around $475.00 for the event. (You could pay less if you book earlier)
2. Get a tech inspection $60.00
3. I recommend you at least change your brake fluid to a higher temp one. (You Can do it when you go for your tech inspection.)
4. A snell 2000 or later helmet.
Like I said my car was stock (except for brakes) and it felt great.
If you or anyone wants to go to Tremblant again this year the Audi Club is having their annual event Sept 29/30th. Basically follow the directions and register here http://www.neqclub.org/index.php?opt...ents&Itemid=46 for this event:
NEQ Mont Tremblant Driver School and Safety Seminar - REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN
and you'll be set to track at Tremblant. The Audi folks put on a excellent event with great instruction and Tremblant is beautiful in the fall with trees turning color and the temps are oh so much nicer than in the heat of summer. You with your helmet will appreciate it on track!

Definitely repeat next year.
Did you had OEM tires?
I'm going at the end of September with my new RX8 GT and I've bought Falken Azenis RT-615 tires for the event and I'm now looking for new brake pads. Do you have any recommandations on brake pads to use with OEM disks? I've been to Tremblant last summer with my IS300 and it was a blast, I can only imagine that it will be more fun with the rx8.
Yes 3 year old OEM tires with around 4/32 thread on them. I think I have 2/32 left after the event. The car hasn't even had an alignment done since it has been bought. (BTW I have a 2004 GS bought in 2007). Would like to go with dedicated track wheels for next season.
As far as brakes go I drove myself crazy trying to find a set of pads. I ended up going with Carbotech Bobcats for the street and XP8 for the track with Racing Brake (one piece) discs. The Bobcats are good for the street but I am having issues with the XP8's and the Racing Brake Combo. I think that will deserve it's own thread.
I think you should do your brake fluid. As far as pads go at this point I can't recommend anything due to my limited experience in the 8 and the fact that I haven't found anything that has worked for me without issues.
I think even if you were to go with the stock pads (in good shape) you would still have a great time.
(see thread above) The new Cobalt Friction pads I am using this season worked amazing well, way more feel and control than either oem or Hawk HP+ pads I've had a Tremblant before. My instructor at Calabogie a couple weeks earlier took my car out first session and said "WoooooH! this thing REALLY stops well...I've not driven a car with brakes as good as this (and he drives a Porsche)! Of course I agreed because they actually do have so much more ...ah..FRICTION...either dead cold or track hot.
They do work great on the street although there is a bit of squeal, a small inconvenience to pay for such performance.
