Question Sports Rims for The AT

Hi I got a RX8 AT6 just last week. It came with original 16' Mazda rims and Bridgestone wheels. For a performance car it just looks damn weird to me to have 16 wheels.

Just wondering how many of you have changed to a 17 or 18 wheels, what kind of sports rims you guys used and what would you recommend?

Are there any problems i need to look out for when changing wheels for an AT??

The "GT" & "Sport" models comes with 18" wheels from the factory. Check out the tire/wheel forum to see what the guys are using. Some are usung 18-19x9.5-10.5" wheels

Your car will be ok with 18's in a off set. But if you get to much of a difference in tire IE: up from tires are larger then the ones in the back or vice verce, your speed o might be off.

I just upgraded to some 18" OEM ones and by god the car handles even better. If anything made me appreciate the upgrade if you will even more. There was no trouble and nothing special you have to do (thank god lol). As others have said look in the Tire section and get some idea's on size's and whatnot

If you pick up some OEM 18" rims you will not have any problems (look in the parts for sale forum or on ebay). After Market Rims may not support your TPS and you will be stuck with a TPS light on your dash. The 18" OEM rims can be polished out to a great shine or you can have them chrome plated.

I have an '06 AT and like you, couldn't bear seeing my car in those puny 16"s! IMHO, the RX8 18" oem rims are some of the nicest, cleanest looking wheels around - not too mention you can get them with a nice set of tires for a good price is you look around.

The car does handle better, but you definitely feel more bumps and it a bit noisier than before. Nevertheless, getting the 18"s was an excellent choice for me.
