While driving around, I have heard intermittent spurts where I will be going along a street, and I hear this strange metallic sound, almost like something bouncing around in a metal casing, coming from somewhere below my car. It will happen until i come to a stop, then goes away, and comes back. It sounds as if it is directly below the center console somewhere in the area between the front seat and the rear seat (from the front of the car to the back). All i know is it sounds like it is coming from behind my driving position directly below the center console. I am thinking it may either be the transmission or catalytic converter. Anyone have any ideas on this issue or how to get rid of it? Thanks!

Do a search for marbles in a can, if thats what the noise you are getting sounds like.

I found the "rattle" in my car...when I was changing out the exhaust I found what looks like either a heat shield or drive shaft brace of some type had become loose.
One bolt was missing and the next one was about to fall off. The brace would then rattle at certain RPM's/idle. As soon as I tightened everything up, the noise went away.
I am not sure if you can check the part but it is located near the exhaust hanger where the midpipe/catpipe connects to the cat-back. If you are on the passenger side of the car...it will be facing TOWARDS the pipe.
