Was curious when it would happen. Ever since the ill fated walk out if you will of last years race I'm surprised it was (or has it yet been to busy on the weekends lately ) ran this year at all. On a plus side it will open up the market a bit for Champ and Indy I guess.

I remember listneing to Dave Dispain(sp?) and a few callers on his show stated that maybe F1 should go to or try other tracks like the Glen or ViR. Surprised they didnt attempt to try out those places.

 

that sucks. I wonder if we will ever see F1 return.

I would love to see it at Road America, but I think the only tracks that could get FIA certified are Indy, and maybe Laguna Seca. Plus with the money that having an F1 race demands, no wonder than countries are subsidizing their own race tracks

 

Won't happen. The cars aren't designed for the banking. Look how they had problems at Indy with just a small banked turn. Plus the memorys of the Monza Wall from the 60's linger.
Laguna Seca is the only other track, that I can see hosting the event.
The straights at Road America are too long. That and the speed of Corner 11 would require chicanes.
The Glen hasn't keep up with safety requirements, but with work it could be improved. I don't think there is the will to put it on.
VIR would have to loose the tree.

Then there are the requirements for team/garage and press facilities. There would be a lot of updates for any track.

 

This is horrrible. I hate Nascar and Champ car racing and now my beloved F1 is leaving America!!!!!!

I can't believe this happened. I saw my first F1 race this year at Indy. I had the time of my life. I'm glad that I did get to see it before it was gone. What a shame.

 

It'd never happen at VIR. It's too remote, and there simply isn't the infrastructure to support large F1 crowds. They'd have to widen the track too, since passing zones are nearly non-existent for cars going that speed. And they'll NEVER cut down the famous oak tree! (Besides, it's not dangerous where it is anyway.)

 

I've been going every year since 2000, so it sucks to see it go...although I kind of knew this is coming because Bernie's stupid claim...he did have a point though, there isn't much done to promote F1 in Indy. I mean come on, I drove into Indy for qualify, and I saw nothing but Indy 500 flags all over the street light poles! The race was done weeks ago, change them to F1 flags for crying out loud. I do hope it returns one day.

Now I have to find a new early summer road trip.

A course on the city streets of New York (like GT and Forza) would be so so so awesome. Plus it would provide much more exposure for the sport in the US than they could ever do at Indy (shutting down NYC streets for a race is no simple matter, especially Time Square).

What a bunch of crsp no race.

 

I watch tons of racing. F1 is my favorite series. I also went to the race for the first time this year at Indy. Seeing F1 in real life was mind blowing ; however, that track means nothing to me. It's actually embarassing to me that the rest of the world thinks all we have to offer is IMS, and possibly street racing for F1.

F1 is by no means leaving our country just because they did not sign a contract with Tony George. I was actually hoping this would happen. I know it's not going to happen, but it would be SO damn nice for them to race at Laguna Seca, or Road America or Road Atlanta ... or maybe even Miller Motorsports Park. Please don't offer reasons why they can't race at these tracks. I know.

Until then, eff it. At least they have a real road racing track in Montreal.

Nope, it's different. The Daytona road course uses part of the oval, and more twisties in the infield area.
