Homelink reset

Hello all. I recently replaced my home garage door opener, but I can't seem to get the Homelink mirror in my Eight to "memorize" the new garage door remote's signal. I followed the directions in the Mazda owner's manual but no matter how many times I run though the procedure I can't get any results. Is it necessary to disconnect the car battery to reset this thing? Has anybody else had the same problem? I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere... help!

My homelink wouldn't learn the remote so I gave up and had the garage door opener learn the homelink signal. (second procedure in the manual)

Could your opener be a "rolling" code type? If so, you have to use the physical garage door opener to program your Homelink.

Lucky you though, my Homelink only works when I'm INSIDE my gated community--it won't let me in from the outside... Wierd.
