Has anyone tried this yet......

So I got bored and thought this might be an interesting and CHEAP modification.... My friend did this to his '91 Miata because it also has a stock aluminum hood and it coame out great, a nice mirror finish.... this is the first part of the polishing, it will recieve another wet-sanding or two, and another good coat of mothers polish with the rotary buffer.... :-) I did a search on here and couldn't find anyone else mention this, so I thought I woud try it... whats the worst that could happen... I mean its not hard to repaint a hood... :-) so here are a few pictures of my POLISHED HOOD.....

i have a friend with a miata who told me he was gonna do this, i thought he was joking. i guess its kind of neat, interesting, unique. not something id do on my own car tho

I think it might look better if after the polish you shoot some blue candy onto the metal. Give it a finish and tint it at the same time.

will the finish be able to stay clean like that?...i mean you dont need a clearcoat or anything?
