I had to post this. I was watching this on SPEED TV this afternoon. The RX-8s won flawlessly for 1st place and 3rd place. I was surprise no one else in this forum posted this earlier. Enjoy the article! By the way, who's going to the NASA HPDE even on March 11th at Thunderhill, CA?

(Hello, mazda, are you reading this?!!)
IT was a great race, kinda got scared at first when ham was falling back at the beginning of the race but they recovered. THe no. 69 car was in the back for a bit and started pushing foward and finished 3rd.
I was very nervous with the DP cars 99 and 75 were fighting it out and almost took the No.69 RX-8 with them, but luckily they didnt. Great race!
also the mazda team got a lot of AIR TIME compared to the first event. Mazda was the FIRST interview they had and they gave love to the rotary. Good to see the porsche guys shaking in their pants lol. they kept wishing and bitching about the rotarys and how they wish something would happen, straight up scared i love it!

whats the bet they start crying foul "the rotary has too much advantage blah blah !
Did the rules changed from last year for the rotary? i dont think so.... seriously, the speedsource guys put it so much hard work to get to where they're at now, the porsche guys just gotta work harder. They still have advantages, this wasnt the course for the porsches, those sweepers and turns and esses are FOR THE ROTARY!, the little lightweight mazda that zoom zoom!.
We could never catch the porsches at daytona, better fuel mileage (a lot) AND faster in the straights. thats why they race in different circuits!
If anything, i think the M3s should be the ones complaining!

I sent an e-mail to the SpeedSource Team yesterday congratulating them on their victory and that I would be at Homestead cheering them on to continue kicking ass. This is the response I received. This response shows their appreciation.
From: Sylvain Trembly,
"I want to thank everyone who has shown support to our Team in the past, the GT victory is hugh to all of us at SpeedSource and the sense of accomplishment after 3 years of hard work by the entire team is unbelievable."
"This win has only made us hungier for more and our chase of the championship has only begun."
"Thanks again for the words of encouragement; I will share them with the entire team."
Sincerely,
Sylvain Trembly

I was touched that Sylvain just after returning from this race takes time to answer an old fart that loves road racing. Let me know if any other RX-8 fans are attending the Homestead Race.
PS CHin has an event this month at Homestead.
