Big Day, Saturday April 21st, 2007. Location/Map/Pics.

I know last year we were bit out of control as to where we were suppose to meet..

This year, I'll try to avoid the confusion by posting the location now.

Here is the map of the area:

We will meet at the top of the Dam starting 9:30AM..

Thanks to Clint (golferfreddie), we have reserved the Fontana Dam Pavillion area all day saturday, April 21st, 2007.

Please show up earliest you can as we would have to pack in as many cars as we can.

Once the designated area is filled up, you would have to park down by the observation deck.

Here is a map/direction how to get to the top of the dam!

This is where people need to park

See you all there!
If you are the first to get there, and see non- rotary car parked in the area, please let me know. We have exclusive rights to use that area as I've already sent the money to reserve it.

This may be a dumb question, but from the map it looks like there are only about 20 parking spots. Where should the other 100 cars park??

We most likely won't utilize the actual parking spaces. I think we shoved ~50 or so cars in there last year parking in rows down the middle. There is a little more concrete under the tree's in the photo. Plan on staying put once you get there as it will probably be tight, and get there early :-).

Thanks for bringing that up.. I been talking to few volunteers about parking..

Only the upper/picnic area parking is ours. The bottom observation deck parking, I have no control over... as its public!

The upper parking area will be FIRST COME FIRST basis and ONCE YOU PARK there, you can not leave until the drive to the dragon begins. SO, I ask everyone who will be parking there to park and NOT to leave. If you think you have to leave earlier (to fill up or some other emergency) then I ask of you to please park at the lower level.

Me and the volunteers will let you guys know when you come to the dam about parking and such.. We are currently trying to figure out so that we could park 70-100 cars on the upper parking area.

To give you an idea, here are a few photos of the parking situation last year (doesn't mean it will be done this way this year though).

Thanks mrthundercleese for the pics!

this year will be little different.. We are actually going to have spots for different rotary cars (generation specific). I am going to warn you all that parking WILL BE very strict this year.

Unlike past couple of years, there will be NO coming IN and OUT of the top, picnic area parking. Once you park there, thats it!! You have to leave your car until we are ready to head to the Dragon! And you WILL Be blocked in to fit as many car as we can!

Sounds good to me. I was in the middle of the pack last year so I couldn't leave even if I wanted to. Obviously the 8 section will be the best .
