I recently purchased an RX-8. I noticed you all are in the valley. Are you open to more people joining you on Tues?

i have to say though, sevenstock was awesome, especially since it was the first time going there. not too sure about the caravan there though. it was a bit scary and not organized enough. once everyone hit the freeway it was nutz! not to mention one of our own got into an accident on the way there.

i've heard that every year there've been near misses in the caravan. i've only gone to ss once- ss11. but, my exp at that one was that the caravan did seem to be traveling just a bit too slow on the freeway- given the light traffic in the am. this caused slight bottlenecks. but, the main reason there were close calls was because too many drivers in the caravan were trying too hard to keep up and failing to allow/ yield to other cars trying to merge in and off the freeway... as long as everyone knows the exit, if a traffic light is missed- no big deal. ppl can catch up. it's not worth getting into a car accident over, imo...

so the fault lies in the poor judgement of the drivers participating in the caravan, imo...

u get a bunch of sleep-deprived, over excited ppl early in the am with foggy road conditions all trying to get from point a to point b in a long caravan- with drivers of varying degree of skill and judgement- then there are bound to be a few knuckleheads who follow too close or don't know wtf they are doing. best to stay in the back of the caravan...

There was no major damage but the front bumper had a good crease and a little gash rightbelow the driver headlight. Luckly the headlight didn't get damaged. The lady pulled on to the on ramp and looked at all the 8's and 7's passing and then kept the same speed and merged into the lane. The caravan was going 70-30-70-30 the wholeway. It's was kinda annoying since last year I was up front and it was smooth this I was way in the back. It was my friend Brian with a 40th anniversary rx8. He Gunna get a new bumper anyways.

oh i see... that sucks... at least the damage wasn't too bad.

changing the 40th anniversary RX-8 to an aftermarket bumper = bad idea. actually, modding that car in any way shape or form immediately devalues the car... it's an "anniversary model" afterall....

to each their own tho...

noo dude, you got the story wrong.
what brian said was she didnt have "anything" as in she had no visible damage, but she did have insurance. but he isnt going to report it because it would probably end up being his fault.

also the issue with the caravan is that everyone is trying to stick together. although that maybe the point, the caravan is too big, and other drivers trying to merge onto other ramps, exits and what not have a hard time crossing over.

maybe if the caravan was broken up into smaller groups and spaced out more to give other motorists time to cross over into other lanes it wouldnt be a problem. also enforcing rules, some drivers just seem to fly by while others are following at a decent pace.

Yea it seems like that caravan could cause alot of problems for other people. And like you said, theirs alot of drivers in this community that feel they need to show us how fast and loud their car is... we all have the same car... u dont need to showboat just drive like a normal person...

im pretty sure my check is going to clear today so i should be their tommorrow

it wasnt really a problem with showboating *cough* ryan <haha but a matter of trying to get pics and video of everyone in the caravan. all you could see through the clouds of fog besides cars are flashes of light from cameras!

Hey accidents happen :\ I dont exactly wat happen, but I almost had the same incident but i keep a fairly good distance away from the leading car. Last time I went to 7stock with tat group same thing happen to me, hence y I keep more distance away from them now. All u can do is just fix it and next caravan keep a far distance away from leading car. regardless of it all it was a great day, no?
