It has been a while since everyone has heard from us; I hope everyone's summer has been enjoyable. These last two months have seemed like some of the busiest summer months in years. With all the events going on there has been little time to put events together. Having said that, I am very excited to announce a very special upcoming event that is a bit different from the Cars and Coffee we have been hosting this year. With the help of a LOT of people over the last month or so, we have been able to organize something that is panning out to be very special.
This day is not quite the Cars and Coffee event everyone has come to know and love but something a little more. With the help of Driven Perfection, Autotrader, The Beantown Sound, Heliops, and Plymouth Municipal Airport management Yuppieracing.net would like to announce the 2009 Cars and Copters event organized to benefit the Saint Jude's Children Research Hospital.
Plymouth Municipal Airport has agreed to host this event by providing us with the use of a number of its fields. This guarantees space for roughly 500 vehicles. Located on site is “Plane Jane’s” restaurant. In addition to the onsite restaurant we are hoping to have a catering company onsite to provide attendees the option of fresh bbq(hamburgers, hotdogs and ribs). Coast Guard Cadets will be insuring a safe and organized atmosphere. The event promises to be the first of its kind in the area.
In addition to an amazing display of cars, Heliops will have its own fleet of helicopters on hand and for those interested short tours of the area by air will be taking place. To reserve your place please email info@drivenperfection.com. In addition to Heliops’ fleet, we are hoping to secure a Blackhawk and Chinook for attendees to check out. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to win prizes via a raffle / helicopter ball drop. Prizes include a full detail from Driven Perfection. As mentioned ALL proceeds from the day will benefit Saint Jude's Children Research Hospital.
As always, please remember to be on your best behavior. This is a fully operational airport and still requires us to pay attention to federal regulations as well as many local laws. Please refrain from doing any donuts, burnouts, drifting or racing of any kind. Police will be on site, and we all know they’ll be waiting for us on the public roads. Do not give them any reason to stop you.
For those of you interested in sponsoring the event to keep costs down please send an email to advertising@yuppieracing.net.
Lastly, help us spread the word! Invite your family, friends, co-workers, or that
random person down the street with the rare car. The more people the better
and we certainly have no shortage of space at this location. This event is a shine only event and has a rain date of September 27th.
Cool bro. Seriously, this will be the biggest car show you'll ever see on the east coat. Best of all, it's FREE! If no other RX-8 shows up....well, their loose.
Forgot to mention this event is posted on over 50 other forums and the news is spreading.
stopped by Driven Perfection today. didn't know that they were running the show, didn't even know who they were, just saw a sign while i was at work and pulled the ambulance into the parking lot, awesome guys. one of the employees drives a VR 8 looks stock though. they do some amazing detail work and talk about it like a passion. it was refreshing speaking to somebody that has a passion for cars, near the end of our conversation the owner brought up a meet he was running at the plymouth airport, i said "oh the cars and copters meet? i'm going to that" he said "oh thats my show. we can't wait, noone around has ever put on a show like this, this will be huge" on a side note, Boston medflight agreed to show the local chopper but said they must have a clear spot as they may need to fly at any moment.
I need to talk to the guys at the shop, I doubt my car will be ready for this one. Don't think anyone will be interested in seeing my Ford Edge rental car ha ha ha.
Unless someone comes through with a rear bumper for me, I will be a pedestrian for this one.
Oh yea, that's Gabriel with the red 8. I know him. Many of us were at the Centerfolds Auto Show yesterday. I took home first place in Mazda class!
We (NEPOC) are having a party at my house this Sat night so many of us are rolling into the show together. Time depends on when we get everyone up. Haha!
I would but I work saturday overnights. Someone has to save the stupid people in this world. I will be down in the morning though, what time are you guys rolling in to this? GF might drop me off and get some shit done then come and get me.

Like I said, whenever everyone gets up for the night before. If it's anything like last time it may take a little while.
Biggest car meet of the year in New England and no other RX-8 owners are coming? Shoot, I know people from NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, ME....all coming to this.
I can't do the Saturday night party either. The missus works Sunday so I'm leaving home when she does Sunday morning (~9am) and heading out with my son.
Sending PM's to RIWWP, Bassy, genju & EMS about meeting somewhere Sunday morning.
There has to be a Dunkin Donuts or something like it that we can meet at just outside the airport so we can roll in together.

There is a dunkin donuts right across the street the problem is it will probably be packed with cars. I will post the address of the public school administration building, it is also across the street and will be closed on sunday so the parking lot will be empty. You guys can park there and meet up. I will meet you guys whenever you want but I will still be in my sweet rental.

Bassy & Genju - what time do you think you can make it to the building EMS suggested? That address is the plan (thanks EMS) and we can pick a time that works for everyone.
I'll call you Mike. I plan on heading out RT 44 since it's a direct line out to Plymouth and is a rural route w/a 50 mph speed limit most of the way. Easiest would probably be the gas station (Shell, iirc) right at the bottom of exit 6 on 195 - Broadway exit.
