Kumho Tires out of stock
They worked OK for Matthew and mid-pack Mike.... But then I am sure you are a way better driver than both of them.

Nice thing about having data is that I don't have to pull claims out of my @ss, and I can see where the difference is. I also had timing equipment, and most importantly I ran both tires back to back to back on the same day, same course. Sounds like you have not even run the tires on the same day, and you want to claim a big improvement.
Only way there is a big difference between these two tires is a driver that can't get 100% out of both.

Sorry Foley, not trying to pick on you... Just saying there are way to many variables to make claims like that without equal testing.
I know a number of people that have recently done back to back test with both H&K tires, new sets, this is the only way to come up with any semi credible results. To bad those people will keep their results private until Topeka.
I even have doubts after their back to back test, because it was not done at HPT, and the weather in May-June does not represent Sept in KS.
Even with back to back there can be a bunch of crap in their, just look at our shaved VS full tread ST results. One test does not tell the story, and we did it twice on two different days.
imho The best thing you can do is keep changing your car frequently, between the Finale and Natls is a great time. I will do as I have for the last 3+ years, change my oil and sit on my @ss.

From what I hear he loved them and desperately wants more. However, the fumes from the millions of tires they have on hand has impaired his ability to find them. As it turns out all of the Kumho's have been misplaced because someone at TR can't spell, 37sec in: http://www.tirerack.com/videos/index.jsp?video=6

The 285 "data point" is Chris...ex one red light, he would have won the Pro Finale, he had some of the fastest times at Nationals, he's run the 285's longer than anyone else and he, most importantly, has figured out how to make them live for more than 100 runs

Though we both know the clock is the ultimate judge. No matter what the car does, feels or the DA tells you.
I have no problem sharing my results. That's why I post them here. Everyone benefits. I know that if someone beats me, it's because of driving skill. Not because they copied my setup.

I agree completly. I only posted the results as a general indicator of how they performed. If you throw the results out the window, I would still say these are better than the Kumhos.
I agree that the Hoosier is the better tire choice for National events. However they just don't last long enough to run them all the time. At local events I would run the Kuhmos.
I am going back to the 245K's. I did data between them and the 295 Hoho and it is give and take but the K is a better and faster tire for me on the 8" rim Solstice. Hoosier were far more imprecise and results trend toward more coneage with the Hoosiers.
I can VERY precisely place the car with the Kumho. MUCH MUCH better with Team K.

I'll agree that the Hoosier looks cooler when on the car vs the Kumho. I don't really care about that though. I would race a pink car with polka-dots if it was the fastest.
If more of you ran the 245 Kumho, you might be able to give Jason fits.

I will add my opinion to this debate because my name and tire choice has come up a couple of times. I have mentioned in several previous posts that it's my belief the 245 V710 & 285 A6 are close enough in time that course, tire condition and driver preference will sway which is "better" on a given day.
Jason and Mike L have had great success on the 245 V710's, others have had success on 285 V710 and A6's. The back to back testing that my co-driver and I did for the Nov 07' issue of Grassroots Motorsports Mag. was under very controlled circumstances, with three separate drivers on the same vehicle (my RX8). The article was well written by the editor and conveyed that all three drivers agreed that the V710 was better, on the two courses we tested on, on two separate days. Even so, its still just two datapoints.....that's all I claim it to be because the results were close enough that they could flip flop on a different surface or course design.
To bear this out, the following weekend my co-driver and I went to Peru (concrete) and ran an event on the same V710's. We were not happy with the results (struggled with understeer) and went back to the A6's. We both felt more comfortable with them so driver attitude and confidence increased. At that point we committed to maximizing the tire and our driving on this tire for the rest of 07. That was a personal choice, which it sounds like many of you are debating right now.
The one thing we all know is that you can win on either tire, it still comes down to driver performance both behind the wheel and the wrench.
Looking forward to Peru/Toledo/Milwaukee in the coming weeks

IMO the humongous A6s are far superior, but it's setup dependent
I did get confirmation yesterday that the 265-18 A6 is just around the corner, just a 245/35 mold with 1" added to the center
