Question NEW Tire's Installed on a 2011 R3 and they scratched my rims (245/35/19)

I just had a set of 245/35ZR-19 Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 installed on my RX8 by Discount tire and they scratched my rims. It looks like they used something metal to remove the old wheel weights. I let the store manager know what happened and he said they have a mobile wheel tech that can refinish the inside of the rims. My question is, can this be done by a mobile tech or are they powder coated rims? He also wants me to leave the car for two days to allow the paint to dry before installing the weights a second time.

Wow, that's bad! Don't worry, they're not powder coated.

Yeah that would pizz me off too!.., the R3's rims are $1200 (each retail)...!!..!!.

How do you like the Hankook's???

I am about to renew my OEM Potenza's and unsure where to go, the 18" RE050A's have been good to me, but....was thinking of Hankook.

The Hankook tires are about the best you can get for the money. I almost got the Michelin Ps2 at $1400 but I can get two sets of Hankooks for that. The 245/35/19 look a lot better then stock too. Thinking about lowering the car next, but I need to take time and start reading the forms.

just had the same tires and same size installed on my 2009 R3, and would have to agree, they are certainly a good value for the money. compared to the OE RE050A's they don't seem to have the same initial turn in but grip seems good, when the weather warms up ill find out for sure.

the other tires I was looking at was the Potenza S-04's wich are on sale at tire-rack for slightly more (20/tire) than the hankooks but my dealer couldn't get them.

Yikes - i'm going to have to be careful next time I take my wheels in.

I am also running the hankooks. Great for a daily driven tire, and easy on the budget (relatively) too!

I am gonna ask you. Do you tires flat spot very easily?
Mine get flat spots just after one night so in the morning the first mile or two the whole car would shake a little.
The Evo 1 didn't have the problem.

never noticed any flat spotting - you're talking about the V12 Evos in particular, correct? are you running enough pressure?

sometimes my car sits for two weeks at a time, never had any issues with the tires getting flat spots - or at least not anything that would be noticeable.

I have mine at 32psi.
I have the Evo2's. They just flat spot after like 1 day. I can jack up the wheel just enough for it to leave ground and you turn it you can see the spot thats touching the ground is flat.

to clarify, i have the 1st generation of those tires - still though, never noticed any flat spotting. I think mine might be at 34psi though...? I don't have them on the car right now though. I'll touch base when I have them back on in 2 weeks...
