Series 1 and 2 differences

Hey guys hopefully this hasn't been covered, I haven't really been able to find it anywhere. I know most of the differences between series 1 and 2 but I was just hoping for a few specifics.

I have a 40th anny and I love it, but I think the R3s just look way better, and ive considered getting the bumpers, side skirts, and rims from an R3. But it seems like getting those and having them painted to match would cost just about as much as just buying an R3.

However, me being 21 (and for several other reasons) I don't need two RX8s. So I would like to look at trading mine in for an R3. (I have found the one I want and its a few hours from me)

So heres the question. I just got some stuff for my current 8 and I want to know what will fit the R3 if I get it. Im pretty sure everything will but I want to make sure.

I have a Borla catback, a bhr midpipe, new ss brake lines, and bhr ignition coils. Again im pretty sure they are all compatable, not certain about the exhaust however. Thanks guys!

Hey ScubaSteve
I can't confirm those parts will fit but I'm 99% sure they will (I'm a series one owner)

Here are two good threads on differences between models

All of that will fit but the exhaust will need to be modified to fit due to the tip height difference between the S1 and S2 bumpers. You can use longer hangers but that makes the exhaust sit lower.

thanks 9k, what about some BHR motor mounts? oh and since you here, i have been trying for like 2 hours to put my current 8 up for sale on the fs thread, but the make and model drop down menus will not work for me i have tried different browsers and compatibility modes. You happen to know anything about that?

The engine mounts should work no problem since the stock mounts are interchangeable. I have no clue about the FS thread issue, might want to PM a Mod or Admin.

You want an R3 just for the looks?

Are you willing to put up with the harsh ride and less comfortable seats?

I wonder if you have ever driven one. I drove my R3 from MA to NC for the DGRR meet with my son and we both loved the seats and the ride. My MINI Cooper S has a harsher ride than the R3. I'm 5' 9" tall and weigh just over 170 lbs. I fit perfectly in the Recaro seats and find then very comfortable. I will say that I need to remove all items from my pockets to get the best comfort.

He owns one. The seats are not that great IMO but they look nice.

I know the seats are comfortable and the ride is fine for some people. The point is, they're less comfortable than the seats and suspensions on other trims. I can't fathom putting up with that just for wheels and side skirts.

Then again, I can't fathom putting up with an RX-8 (let alone an R3) at all unless handling is your main priority. Looks are about as far down my list of priorities as it gets. So, maybe I'm not the best guy to ask...

IamFodi,
You would absolutely hate my MR2 then... lol
Stiff race suspension and 90's style thin leather seats.

Like it's on rails. It's a 2000 lb MK3. It'll cut more weight once I put on a carbon hood, roof and trunk, and put the rotary in. it should be in the High 1800's low 1900's.
