The RX8 is one of the easiest cars to pull the transmission on. The only special thing is the PPF adjustment. You just need to run a bolt through a threaded hole on the PPF and so it will be at the correct height when going back in.

That being said, you could probably have the work done at any shop that does good work, not the dealer if they are giving you an outrageous price.

I thought about it, I just don't really have any tools available to me and the area around my apt is all sloped, which wouldn't be very beneficial to putting the car on jack stands

Either he's been slipping the clutch the whole time or he's re-enacting F&F every day on the way to work.

WHAT!...$900!!...BS!...

A Genuine On-Line Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate and Thrust Bearing should be no more that 450-500....Plus installation...unless your flywheel is kaput?

Frankly, I am not surprised, given all the tranny issues you have had.
Learning to use a stick with an RX-8 can be problematic.

I've had 1 full trans replacement for which a bulletin was later released by Mazda, and I've had a syncro get stuck

Problems started happening after handing it over to a valet last Thursday.

Amusing. But no, the flywheel is in good condition, they only want to replace the clutch.

I've ordered a clutch kit from BHR and dealership is putting it on.

The clutch abuse comments get old after a while, just sayin'.
