I did some on-line searching and I could not see exact procedure to remove Auto Shift Knob.
Now I have done these on old Mazda Auto Trans before and I see no reason for it to be any different, so yes lefty loosy..you should be OK...they can be pretty tight, more than Manual trans Knobs.
