Turbo timer? Anybody have one installed?

Figured this would be the best place to post this. Friend o mine gave me a HKS turbo timer for free and all I need is a harness for the rx8 to install it. I was curious if anyone else has a turbo timer on their rx8. I figured it would be a good cheap mod to do since I always sit in the car and let it cool a little before turning off. Let me know what you guys think

I've never had a need for one... Temps don't get much over 200F.

Do you know what a turbo timer is actually designed for? A car without a turbo has no need for one.

I do know what a turbo timer is for, I owned a evo 9 RS and a legacy gt. a turbo timer would keep me from having to sit in my car instead of just shutting it off right after I drive it. Everybody talks about how hot our cars run and using coolant additives so I figured this may be a plus. I'm just thinking outside the box on this.

why would this reinforce the need for a turbo timer??

For the most part, sitting still with the engine running will make a n/a RX-8 hotter, not cooler.

It would save me time so I don't have to sit and let the car idle before I shut it off. Yes I can be lazy at times

first question is do you have an S2?

I have shut my car off numerous times without letting it fully warm up on many occasions without repercussions

this.

and when you do turn it off the coolant temps will rise even higher.

A turbo timer wont help in cooling an engine down, only in cooling a turbo.

Leaving ANY rotary idling is only making engine hotter....a timer is a complete waste of time/money....A Turbo timer is to cool down the 'TURBO'....you don't have a turbo.

Please don't tell me you let your RX-8 idle for 60-90 seconds and then rev it up to 5000 RPM and then turn ignition off.

Turbo Timer is called that way for a reason, its only to let the oil circulate in the turbo enought so the turbo cools dont and doesnt cook the oil inside of it if it stays sitting after some pulls a turbo can be red hot.
