Ok, I have what I thought would be a fairly simple question but none of the vendors I've called can seem to answer it (or just aren't willing).

I'm installing a stereo "upgrade" in my son's 2009 R3 for his birthday. Part of my plan involves replacing the HU with a Pio Avic-X940BT. Here's the question...

If I order the Metra 70-7903T, can I use that as my "permanent" install harness and just hide the extra connector to use to set the clock or do I need the Metra 71-7903 also? I'm thinking I just need the 7903T but I just want to be sure.

For anyone interested, plan so far:

Pio AVIC-X940BT head unit. I'll be feeding the line level F/R speaker outs into th stock Bose amps through the 7903T harness. Metra ASWC to retain steering wheel controls and Pio CD-IU51V for iPod integration.

Eliminating center channel, using spot in dash to install GPS antenna and sat radio antenna under center channel grill.

Will also replace stock front Tweets and rear speakers, just haven't decided what I'm going to replace those with yet. Eventually, probably Christmas, I'll jerk the remainder of the BlOSE system and install another aftermarket amp and a nice set of front components along with some signal processing equipment.

RCA's from HU to trunk where we're installing SRQ sub enclosure holding two 12" RE Audio SEX12D4 subs in parallel configuration presenting a 1 ohm load to Hifonics BRZ1700.1D.

Now then, before anyone chimes in criticizing what will obviously be a "bass heavy" system (for now... when the balance i upgraded at Christmas, we'll fix that..lol), realize two things:

1) The boy, like most kids his age, wants BASS! He's a kid, what can ya do? lol

2) No. This is NOT the system I'd install for myself. I competed (and won quite often) in both IASCA and USAC back in the late 80's and early 90's. But, again, we're building what he'll enjoy as a father/son project.

Equipment is ordered, I'll start a build thread when we begin the install. So, anyway, about that 7903T? That's the only one I need right? Hell, If I could just find a picture online of the entire damn harness I could answerit myself, all anyone seems to show are the ends, NOT the whole harness.

I can't find the packaging that came with my harness, but if I remember correctly the "7903T" sounds like the one I am using. It has the normal connections for the HU to the car harness with another connector with 3 wires that's is only connected to to set the clock. After the clock is set the stock HU is stashed in the garage and the dongle is tucked under the dash until its needed again.

Thanks man, that's exactly what I suspected (and was hoping for). I just didn't want to get all the parts for the install in and then be held up by the lack of a $20.00 harness.
