ON Amplifier dead ?

I have a 2009 R3 with the Bose stereo system which has now failed. When I start the car even with the stereo off the front tweeters keep popping very quickly. It almost sounds like popcorn. I can't get anything to play through the stereo so I've pulled the fuse until I get it fixed. But before I take it into the shop has anyone else had this problem? From what I've read online it all point to the amp. Any help would be appreciated.

Your 2009 is still under warranty? I bought my 2009 after the 2010s came out and I'm out already.

No warranty left. I bought a used amp from a member of this forum, he was kind enough to send it out today in the mail so I'm hoping it gets here by the end of next week.

Cool. It would have probably been expensive if you brought it in to the dealership.

I believe that I am having issues with my amplifier as well. I have an 2009 GT with the Bose system. Over the past 2 months, my sound system has had intermitted loss of sound, sometimes for an hour. The factory head unit appears to be fully operational but no sound comes out of any of the speakers. Could it be the amplifier going out?

Sounds like your amp. Do you get any popping sound from your tweeters? If you have to get a new amp try looking for a used amp because they are crazy expensive from the dealership.

No 'popping' sound, simply no sound at all. I'll look on eBay for one. Does anyone know if the Bose amplifiers are the same for Series I and II RX-8s?

I do not empirically know they are different amplifiers, but it is reasonable to assume they are. There are other differences between the two Bose systems, including the front speaker amplifiers and the colors in the wiring harnesses. Personally, I would not risk buying something I could not use at that price.
