Turblown @Turblown
MN Finally... A real ECU for the S2 owners...

I don't want to let too much out of the bag yet, but we have full standalone ECU that allows all OEM functions to work correctly.. Dash, no check engine lights, traction control, drive by wire throttle body, omp, etc. It works in conjuction with OEM ecu that controls all these functions.

Its not plug and play YET. Currently the vehicles have to be brought to us for this modification.

I am currently only offering this in conjunction with our turbo system.

For those not familiar with our S1 turbo system;

And yes there is already an S2 running, driving like an OEM car with it installed.

Listen--I have but ONE REASON that I don't own a S2 8--the lack of a legitimate ECU option.

These threads have unfortunately proven to explode..........and die.

For the love of God---PLEASE don't let that happen again, Elliot. Bring this to market!!!

I don't really see anyone spending this kinda of money unless its for forced induction. The ecu is able to control all the OEM solenoids/valves, even the OMP. The factory ecu handles the rest without any check engine lights. This means as long as you don't have to pass a sniffer test, you will pass emissions( Some states use just OBD plug in for newer cars). There aren't any limitations on injectors, or overall power etc, as it is MAP based( internal map sensor). Factory maf is used for air intake temp, and the rest of the OEM sensors are also used.

I don't foresee a lot of gains for a n/a car, just like the Series1 vehicles using the CObb. Even with all the bolt-ons available its just really not worth $2500+ bolt ons to make 25+rwhp.

Just to be clear we have NOT personally installed/tuned an S2 with this ecu. Its only a matter of time before someone wants to take the risk, and plunge in. I will keep you guys in the loop when we have a car here for it.

So wait.

It's $2,500 *on top* of the currents costs of the full turbo kit? Or are you packaging it somehow?

Doesn't this say the manufacture actually has it running on a S2?
Sure it's a proto-type, but it's running.

Or am I missing something.

Turblown is just saying he hasn't installed/tuned one yet.

What's wrong?
Your allowance not going to cover it?

It sounds like its a complete stand alone Engine Management System, maybe a Motec or something.
Those things are not cheap.

In case you still need further enlightenment, I was clarifying this statement:

Quote:
I am currently only offering this in conjunction with our turbo system.
And yes, it does sound like a standalone system (OP even used the word!), however, I'm not used to damn near untuneable ECUs like the 8 S2 seems to have. So I already considered that I'd need a standalone anyhow, if I wanted to go turbo. So this seemingly big announcement is a new thing.

Anything wrong with asking a clarifying question, chucklehead?

What would be funny is, if the OP came back and said that there IS a package price with a turbo system. Won't it? It'll make you look like a bigger douche than you were.

This is some great news for rotaries in general! S2 sales could even pick up, if going FI is attainable.

OH wow must of hit pretty close to the mark to get a response like this.
I should have put a lulz or smiley after that, as 2500 is going to eliminate all but the most serious people with this solution.

My following points in that post were simply informative not meant as inflammatory.

Your post makes you sound like a cheapskate.

Then it shouldn't have been a surprise to you that the unit (or any stand alone solution) was going to cost around 2500+- ish .... oh unless of course you hadn't done any searching.

Meh so what if he does, he (turblown) hasn't even installed one yet. If sometime down the road the OP implements a bundled price offering for the S2 ECU solution and that makes me look like a bigger douche, awesome.
But I doubt he will anytime soon.

Here in the OP, that you've already said you were asking for clarification:

That's pretty clear.

And this is the cost to of the Engine management installed and tuned

If Turblown was considering a bundled package price he would have said it here.

So that all being said. Why don't you dive in and be the first? Get a 425hp S2 running, and post how much the stand alone engine management cost you and really make me look like an even bigger douche!

All arguments aside, 2500 is actually a reasonable cost if it includes a piggyback harness and a tune if you understand the myriad of options a standalone provides you....considering it might cost you double that to do it all yourself (wiring and finding a base map)

LOL Hello Pot, I'm Kettle, nice to meet you.

I don't think we are off topic that much Rx8Soldier, do you?

I mean that guy wanted more information about a bundling cost, and I'm saying Turblown has already said this is the cost.
What needs to be clarified?

Turblown hasn't even sold one yet and until they start to see some sort of movement/interest how can Turblown offer a bundled cost?
I would be willing to bet that 2500 for the ecu and the tune ... that he is selling the ECU at cost or damn close.
Yeah I would bet. Probably no room to go lower on the ECU solution.
The goal would be to have solution for S2 tuning that would move more turbo kits.

Just my 2c

Think about how much bitching and moaning there is about the price of the Cobb?

If the only thing holding back this advancement is the usage of a s2 rx8. I'd be willing to give my car for testing, 2010 rx8 r3 like 14500miles on it. And I'm quite serious, I like most want a tune able s2. You can contact me through rx8club or email @ anhrvat2@yahoo.com or by cell @ 440-520-5077, my location is eastlake, OH, travel wouldn't be much of an issue for me. Include all details necessary about testing, liability, downtime, etc.

Ha touche!

No, but the response you got from carrrnuttt seemed pretty aggressive. I was just trying to lighten the thread up a little
