The Michigan "WANKEL"
I'm pretty sure it works just fine. I seem to recall it's listed as compatible with the 2009 in the MazdaSpeed RX-8 catalog/brochure I got from the dealer last year. Have you checked the MazdaSpeed parts and accessories site?

entirely possible and done. the only problem could be color matching; for instance, finish line doesn't list the wing available in aurora blue, sparkling black, or that *diamond* color. they come it primered so you can just have it painted

it's still attached to my factory trunk in my little climate controlled storage room at my house lol. hood, stock springs and struts, intake, everything i've replaced except the sway bars are all sitting together in case i ever go back to stock for some reason.
I actually have had the thought of getting rid of it a couple of times to fund building my Cobra and going stupid with it because I'd end up with money left over, but the more i really really think about it the more I'd love to do something completely insane in the 8 like a V8 swap. just to make people around where i live get the "WTF IS THAT THING?!" and keep the cobra as a nice weekend cruiser that's already quick

Black spoiler on an Aurora Blue.. (Should give you a feel for what a black spoiler looks like on a different color car)
MS spoiler without the bottom lip portion of the spoiler

fitment wasn't bad. Just had to take my time and work with slowly to make sure everything went together properly and perfectly. for the lip spoiler section of it, I used 3M double-sided adhesive to hold it in place firmly. and then the aluminum pedestals for the actualy wing part are bolted down.

you'll get a laugh out of the website probably, but it's one of the cheapest I found and I knew Carbon Creations was a good company to begin with. So I gave it a shot:

Was it hard to mount it? (guessing you did it yourself)

i didn't have any problems further than what other guys normally have with aftermarket decklids (i.e. having to take off the rubber gasket for the trunk). The hardest part was getting the 3rd brake light to fit perfectly. It mostly just took a bit of fanagling but came out just fine. I also took the time to drill holes in the fiberglass bracing on the underside of the carbon fiber (being careful not to get into the CF itself) so that i could mount the factory carpet panel so that it made a nice clean installation with none of the wiring harness showing other than what shows on the stock deck lid.
