I suggest you contact one of our excellent forum Vendors THE Mazda Parts man in the USA, Paul from Mazmart, he WILL give you the best service and best price for a Starter, try and go for the 2009 Series II Starter, much better and make sure you have a decent 12V car battery.RX8Club.com - View Profile: Mazmart

R3 FRONT BUMPER Mazda Part Numbers

OK... this is the COMPLETE list of Series II RX-8 R3 Front Bumper MAZDA part numbers, including all the parts for lower skirts/splitter and any other parts necessary to swap over from your existing Series II.

The front Bumper Cover or skin is not, repeat NOT painted in your cars colour, it requires painting at a Car Body Repair Shop of your choice...

Your existing Mazda wing Emblem or Badge is the same as what you already have for all Series II's.
I will include Part Number in case you want a new one, they have TWO Speed Nuts behind Bumper Cover to remove it.

Grille is the same as are Fogs Lights and Headlamps.

This will not, repeat WILL Not fit on a Series I RX-8 (2004-2008), unless you want to replace front fenders, fender liners, headlamps, fog lamps and other parts all too many to list.

These are the new OE Part needed for an R3 Front Bumper and R3 Splitter....

1 x F1Y7-50-03XBBB Bumper Cover Front R3 (NOT PAINTED)
1 x F189-51-731 Badge 'M' Front Nose.

Now for the more expensive Splitters which are a 3 piece and require many EXTRA Bolts, Rivets and Plastic Nuts, again EXTRA to what is already on your S2.....

1 x F197-51-9K1B Front Lower Center/Middle Splitter
1 x F197-51-9H1A Front Lower Splitter End RH
1 x F197-51-9L1A Front Lower Splitter End LH
*1 x F197-50-041 Bumper End Retainer Block RH
*1 x F197-50-051 Bumper End Retainer Block LH

Now the EXTRA Nuts and Bolts and Rivets mainly to help join/install the 3 Piece Splitters together these will be required....

2 x B33J-51-833 Rivet, Splitter Ends
6 x B455-56-135 Plastic Nut, (extra) for Splitter Bolts
4 x EA01-50-037 Rivet Plastic, for Splitter (extra)
2 x 9986-50-516 Bolt, for Splitter (extra)
10 x BR70-50-0Z2 Bolt, Splitter fixing to lower part of Bumper Cover
*8 x BN8F-50-355 Rivets, holds Bumper Retainer Block to Bumper Cover

(extra) means Part Quantities on top of what is already removed or already in use on your old existing Bumper.

* Bumper End Retainer Block Brackets and Rivets 'could' come with new R3 Bumper Cover but I can't confirm (they do not look part of it but separate, non R3 S2's do not use these Bumper Retainer Blocks)...See RED highlighted R3 Bumper Pic of Blocks and Rivets below.

FINAL:..I do not have 'installation instructions' (please do not ask), obviously if you can remove your existing Bumper and Cover then you should be able to install new R3 Bumper Cover and reuse required parts off old S2 front bumper to new R3 Bumper.

Just remember, all the extra 3 piece Splitters and extra hardware (Rivets and Bolts) will cost more than the unpainted R3 Bumper Cover.
Does not matter which country you live in cost ratio's will be the same or similar.

R3 Front Bumper 3 Piece SPLITTERS

Here is a Parts Pic of R3 Splitters...3 piece and Part Numbers and Quantities, in my figures I have calculated the removed bolts and nuts already on old S2 Bumper/Splitter that will be re-used on new R3 Bumper install.

And no, I can not confirm that the old S2 one piece Splitter will Fit on a new R3 Bumper, and look appropriate...

Perhaps this can be confirmed.

thank you very much ash! I would like to know another thing....
is it possible to install only the front bumper without installing the 3 lower splitters?
Is it possible to fit my existing lower splitter on the new front bumper?
I don't like them as much and maybe for their price I could find something that I like more..

Not certain M8..

R3 main Bumper/Nose should fit, I don't know of anyone doing your desired specific configuration for lower splitter, you can only try I guess and let us know.

well I saw that odula for example sells a front splitter for the R3 so maybe it's possible...
In any case the price for those 3 splitters is INSANE...

Yes you can install the R3 bumper without the three lower lip pieces. In fact that is what I will be doing as soon as Paul from Mazmart gets the bumpers from overseas here. If you search (using him or my screename) you will be able to find the group buy we are doing and I posted a picture in that thread of another member who mounted a R3 bumper to his non R3 S2 and he did not use the three lower pieces.

Nevermind, here you go:

and the pic:

Many thanks for the info jrx13!! I didn't saw that pic and now I know what I have to do!
I like it very much without the lower splitters!!
I would like to participate in the group buy but I have only one big problem: I live in italy!! In fact as far as I know mine is the only 2009 restyling here in the Belpaese!
So I'm out because of the shipment and the custom duties that would be too expensive for me.
But I can order from my local mazda dealer the parts and then paint the bumper here...
That's not a big problem anyway because I already plan to mod the new bumper as I did with my current one and this process would require a repainting of it...
I covered the ugly front plastic as you can see...

Grrr Had to eat a road cone instead of a mini-van. Well if I was a better driver I would have found a way to not eat anything, or be eaten. It is not my baby's fault that the protection above the front passanger wheel got ripped to shreds and I want to heal her.

Anyone know that part number? Or have a manual that I can download that has the parts list?

I'm good with parts and engines but never cars specifically however I know getting this through the shop will be way to much and I can darn well mount it myself.

JM1FE173770208002 is me and don't anyone try any funny business you'll waste your time I'm as paranoid with my location as anyone you'll meet.

If this vendor from down under or others are looking and can ship to state of CT for cheap I'll be happy to see what they have, on this and other items.

M8, I only offer assistance with Mazda Part Numbers...I am not a vendor.

What exactly do you need part number wise, be more precise on what parts you require for your 2004 Auto RX-8.

Trying to not create a new thread for tail light part numbers, ASH8... I am looking to replace the drivers side rear assembly, and there appear to be many different numbers listed for may car - can't find a number stamped on the actual part (I had leaking issues years ago, and got the new gasket put on, which soved the problem, but the cold air that I used to dry it out resulted in cracks in the clear plastic - evidently the cracks have gotten bad enough that they are now leaking themselves, and I just want to replace the whole thing). I have seen FE01-51- <180L>, <160M>, <180G>, <160H>, among others... and I can't find anything that tells the difference.

FE01-51-160M Tail Lamp Assembly (complete) Left Side...Includes Globes.

FE01-51-180L Lens and Body Left Side, everything the assembly has minus the globes and globe sockets (about $40 cheaper)

PA Series II Ignition coil mounting plate

Hello Ash8!

Sorry in advance for not having a VIN #, although I don't think it will matter for my question..

I am wondering if as a series I owner, I can make my ignition coils last longer by swapping out my ignition coil mounting plate for the newer series II style plate.. I have read that the series II has a ventilated plate.. I have not heard of anyone trying this. Can you provide a pic of the diagrams? Possibly one for the series I and one for the series II showing the coil mounting plate?

Thanks in advance.

I had a real pic of the S2 plate here somewhere...

To use it on an S1 you need to do some slight modding of the S2 plate, I recall 'a' member doing it here once, but seriously I would not really bother.

The 'vent' you are talking about is a 5 mm wide by the length of plate ridge pressed into coil plate, or channel.

Probably the ventilation is minimal, you could perhaps work out a solution with your existing S1 plate to slightly lift coils by a few mil, perhaps with a washer @ nut end.

Edit:.. Here is a parts EPC sketch of S2 plate.

Looks to me that clip for Tweeter Cover is only part of the Tweeter Cover, on-line price is about $23..

Take a look @ Mazda EPC sketch...as I don't have this cover part with me, do you think there is a similar or same clip anywhere else inside car?...

I then 'might' be-able to match up a part number (no guarantees)..

Sorry M8...

Hi Ash, here to bother you again. Due to a rattling glove box, and the fact that I couldn't pin point the exact cause of the rattle, other than something internal inside the glove box plastic cavity (not the lock), I decided to look on ebay for a new one. I came across this listing for "MAZDA OEM 998720416B Glove Box-Lock Screw
#5 on Diagram Only-Genuine OE Factory Original Item"

It shows this exploded diagram of the glove box with multiple screws.

I didn't know there were additional screws to the glove box other than for mounting the lock. Can you further explain this and tell me if there is a possible chance to separate the glove box? I see there are two rubber cushions in the back of the glovebox where the edge meets the dash. I am unsure if there are screws under the rubber cushions and afraid to tear the cushions only to find out there is nothing.

I take it you are talking CX-5?

Here is the CX-5 LHD Glove Box..

4 and 5 (green) are cushions (small rubber bungs) which normally do not have screws behind them , they have a pull through 'tail' of rubber on
(reverse side) for production install.

Note the quantity of screws (8) used.

Sorry for not clarifying. It is for the RX-8.
