Awesome, thanks!

I also noticed a little damage to the black plastic under the painted cover (red on my car) under the passenger side oil cooler. Could you find that too?

Now to find someone who knows how to get the old clips out of the side-skirt without damaging it.

hi ash8!
I have a weird problem with the paint of my 2009 S2 velocity red.
Some bastards damaged the trunk, the sunroof ecc..
My trusted bodywork shop repainted the damaged parts using the correct color code(27A).
The problem is that original parts that were not damaged when viewed in direct sunlight looks orange/golden while the repainted have a more dark red tone.
I could post some pics if you want.
Since I'm the only one in Italy who owns a S2 I would like to know if there could be differences in colour code from european OEM velocity red and the US OEM one or if could be a painter's mistake or anythig else that you can think of.
Hope you can help!!

My VIN: JM1FE174990402302

Sorry, no difference in V Red worldwide.
The issue is with your repairer, mica paint for some can be 'challenging' to mix and or blend to exactly match Mazda, not easy.

You cannot purchase just the ballast. Unless this is the ballast: Part Number: F189510H3 ($399.00)

http://www.oemxenonshop.com/Mazda-RX...placement.html

But on the S1, as I said in the other threads, the bulb wire is routed before the lens is glued on.

Edit: but looking at this diagram the wire looks like it might detach from the control module (ballast) so you can install them without taking the headlamp apart.

/\ Yes they can be purchased separately and have zero resemblance to S1.

These are S2 specific.

F189-51-0H3 Ballast which includes DS2 (Globe) wiring loom (ballast to globe loom and all detachable).

$388 USD each from online US Mazda Dealers. (same left to right hand)

Hello all!

I have some questions. I will number them as to make them more visible.

I live in Sweden and own a 2009 UK spec R3. Although it is not standard, it is possible and allowed for me to put a US-size license plate on my car. Hence I need a US license plate holder. I have located one for the front. I think the part number is: FF1450170D

Question 1: It would be great of someone could confirm this part number for me.

Question 2: Do I need any other hardware/part number(s) to mount the license plate holder?

Question 3: I have tried to locate a similar genuine US-spec Mazda license plate holder (US size) for the rear. Is there such a thing and if so, what part number does it have? And do I need some extra mounting hardware/part number(s)?

Question 4: Is there a generic US license plate holder which one could bolt one's license plate to (together with optional frame) and then mount with sticky tape on the rear of the car?

Thanks in advance for all the help! :-)

F189-51-9K0A is for S2 GT
F197-51-9K1B is for S2 R3 ONLY.

Thanks for the help. I have one more question.

I have an S2 R3 bumper on my S1. After mounting the R3 bumper, I found out that the fender splash shield that’s right behind the oil cooler doesn’t reach the edge of the R3 bumper.

I found the part number for the splash shield that fits the S2 bumper - F1895614YD. But then I found out there’s another part called “front bumper retainer” (Part number - F19750051). It’s a small part that fills the gap between the splash shield and the bumper.

My question, I know I need to buy the bumper retainer. But do I really need the new splash shield? Since the S2 splash shield doesn’t anyway meet the edge of the bumper, can’t I reuse the one I have?

I have added 2 pics. One pic shows the entire splash shield, the other shows the bumper retainer. Just to give you guys an idea.

Can you confirm the retainer circled in the pic’s part number is correct? I might have got something wrong. I got the part numbers from onlinemazdaparts.com.

BTW, that’s the only pic I have of those 2 parts. If you have an R3, could you kindly take a better picture of the bumper retainer?

Thank you so much

The 2 large long Splash Shields are S2+R3 Specific, the large one that goes inside the fender in the curve of the fender F189-56-13ZC (RH) and are meant to fit inside S2+R3 Fenders.

The smaller "vented" splash shield that goes directly behind Oil Coolers is also S2+R3 specific F189-56-14YD.

I have no idea what the S1 (Series 1 RX-8) Fender Liners F151 differences are as I don't have them to compare.

So to answer your question YES you need the 4 F189 Liners, why would Mazda change them if they were the same as S1.

The F197-50-041 + F197-50-051 Bumper Retainers are ONLY for the R3 bumper and are alloy riveted to the plastic R3 Bumper with 8 x BN8F-50-355 alloy rivets (4 each Retainer).

I personally own a S2 Luxury (Elec Sunroof, Leather, Power Seat) (GT in USA) the Liners are the same as R3 and where you have that gap will be filled when you buy and use the F189 liners, correct parts.

BTW, you could give it a try and just fit the F197-50-041 + F197-50-051 ?..

Thank you so much for your reply. By S2+R3 you mean it fits both the standard S2 bumper and the R3 bumper or just the R3 bumper?

So the F197-50-041 + F197-50-051 Bumper Retainers, that’s what I’ve circled in the second pic I uploaded right? The one circled in a thin red color?

My R3 bumper did not come with the retainers If only these weren’t so expensive.

I don’t think just using the retainers will work because my current fender liner behind the oil cooler’s diameter is smaller than the new R3 bumper. The R3 bumper is farther away from the front wheel than the old bumper. So i’ll have to change the fender liner to get a good finish.

Do you know of anyone selling these parts used? I tried contacting Paul from Mazmart but he’s not repying.

Oh Australia huh? White with red leather interior?

Thanks for all the help ASH8 Appreciate it

F197 part numbers are specific (ONLY for) R3 in this case.
F189 part numbers are S2+R3.

Those Bumper Retainers (F197) are only used in R3, not used on S2 Front Bumper, and yes they are not supplied with the R3 Front Bumper Cover.

I have a contact in Ohio, Park Mazda.

Order on-line, they will ship directly to your address, you must pay by PayPal.
Put the Part Number in system, add to cart, "Shop More" add the other side part number, add to cart, check out and pay.

Mazda Parts - Discount factory (OEM) Mazda parts and accessories at Park Mazda OEM Parts

Put a not on order ATT:, Joe Klish, say that Ashley from Australia/ RX-8 Club Forum recommended, Joe will look after you.

Don't forget the 8 rivets BN8F-50-355 they are a thick aluminium type.

BTW: I still think you may have an issue with those 4 F189 Slash Shields which are for all S2's, you are using your original S1's.
Remember an order with Park Mazda over $200 gets free shipping.

Edit:, I did not read all of your reply, and YES, I personally think you will need the 4 x F189 inner Splash Shields, look you just don't want to have an issue with sloppy fitting or gaps, I have seen these come off at high speed and they can really mess up whatever they touch as they are thrown around, hitting wheels, back of oil cooler fins, fender paint.

These are the 4 correct F189 liners and no I don't know any one selling used units..
F189-56-13ZC RH Fender
F189-56-14ZC LH
F189-56-13YD RH Oil Cooler

I just did a fake on-line invoice/order with Park Mazda and $372.28 (including 8 rivets).
So this order would be shipped free.

Hey Ash8,

Any chance you could get the part numbers for an Rx8 5-Spd reverse and neutral switch on the transmission? Not sure if it's Jap or Euro-spec, also unsure of VIN. I am hoping to confirm if they are/are not identical to the USDM switches. Thanks!

Y612-17-640B Park/Neutral Switch. 5 Speed Transmission.

Y611-17-640A Reverse Switch. 5 Speed Transmission.

For once I did not check, I presumed you were in USA..
Why the hell country location fields are not mandatory here..

You are in Sir-Lanka..
At the moment they are not doing 'International Shipping', email them, I deal with them at times and Joe knows of me..They might do it, they only accept PayPal for payments.

I think you might be in trouble.

Try Paul at Mazmart (a great website vendor here).

How do you know where I live? :P

I tried PMing Paul but he didn't reply. I'll try emailing them as well.

Thank you so much for your help Ash8

Mods get to see your IP address...

If you email Park Mazda, ask for Joe Klish and mention that I suggested you contact him.
As I also listed all the parts are for a S2 and for your R3 front Bumper.

I would not tell him you have an S1 as you might confuse the issue and scare him off supplying you.

Some parts guys in Dealerships hate dealing with ''bits a'' or Frankenstein cars, as many only supply off cars VIN Numbers and IF this was the case the wrong parts (part numbers) would be sent to you, they wont spend the time mucking around.

Just give him the Part Number list I posted here (of what you select or now need) and ask IF he will supply.

I was wondering for RX-8 R3 headlights is it possible to just get the clear plastic cover, or do I have to buy a whole new head light. The head lights on mine are a tad bit oxidized.

All of the S2 assemblies are the same looks wise except for the Spirit R, not special on the R3 and you have to buy the whole assembly, they are sealed units. And of course you can buy Halogen units or Xenon.
