Hi,
I am buggered if I can work out how to get the filter panel out,
watched a you tube diy for removal..
I removed engine cover,
battery cover,
then un-did clips,
but I cant get enough clearance to get it out,
should the box section push back toward the engine, or does the whole box pop out above the mounting point?
Any tips? I thought this should be fairly easy..

It's not really easy. It's a pain, stupid design if you ask me.
You have to push the whole thing back pretty forcefully.

Well bugger me I fiddked around and still could not get the bastard out.
Are there clips/attachments on the rear of the box?

There are posts in the bottom, and in the front.
There is a DIY thread about it.
Also, I lube the rubber grommets on the bottom with silicone spray because the first time I did it, one of them fell out onto the radiator.
They can jam the fans and cause them to fail and possibly overheating.

I've had a set of coils for about a year, & I can't figure out how to remove the SII air box. The filter video - this worked for me a few times. need extra hands to hold the two clips out of the way when installing the new filter

Nah, just follow the instructions in BigCajun's post above yours. Don't be afraid to put some force into it.

^^That's a quick way, but I didn't like the crushing sound it made when he reinstalled it, something wasn't sitting right and he kind of forced it back into place.

I'm glad you pointed that out, I haven't watched the videos in a long time, and forgot something.
The oval intake duct on the front of the box mates with a corresponding oval.
The first time I did mine, when putting it back together, I didn't line up the oval intake duct on the front of the box correctly and cracked it.
I used superglue to fix the crack.
I think that's the noise in the video, not getting the duct lines up correctly can damage the duct.

The air filter assembly is a pain to work with. I asked the tech at the dealership to show me how he did it, he sort of shoved it in to pop it out and made it look easy. I didn't mess with it until recently when I changed the plugs and coils which required complete removal--then I saw one of the two bottom posts on the air box was broken, probably from that last time it was shoved in/out.
It seems the only good way to change the air filter it is to unclamp the hose and remove a few other pieces that are in the way.
